Yep it cost me £250 second hand, same as the 40 pro did a couple of years earlier, but it programs everything I have wanted to program (even if I have had to make up adapters to take the chips) they are all expensive bits of kit just to program the odd EPROMs so not many on here will own one, but they do check every pin is good and verify the EPROMs at lower and upper voltage ranges too so you never ever get a bad read data from them like cheaper ones can, they are good at what they do!!

No worries, rom 2 uses 5x cash sounds (which is possibly 5x cash £25 set, as i don't think there is a project coin named 8x cash not that i could find anyhow. as for rom 1 it has on boardsounds similar to the games of that era JACKPOTS 7'S etc. and is indeed jackpot jungle image courtesy of spa

Well there's a coincidence, same happend to one of mine the other day due to a RAM chip going bad whilst testing. It didn't blow the fuse either (MPU3) and melted all the plastic bits on the payslide. Stunk and smoked the place out. Luckily no board damage barring a new triac.

Yes but now working boards are getting scarse (and boards like maygay M1 non working have gone from £15 to £100) why on earth would you NOT want to protect them as much as possible these days? look at things like the voyager space probe, it’s pc is still working today and look when that was designed and built using every single static precaution! Back then chips were more prone to latent static damage because of the technology back then, hands up how many are still using a pc designed in 1970’s ? i just cannot understand with working boards getting harder to find working why on earth would you not want to protect them? After all anti static bags are not £100 each for god sake! More like 20p! but each to there own, trouble is you will never know if you have zapped the board with latent static damage and If it fails early, you would just think it has gone wrong! Or blame the person that’s just repaired it! It really is not difficult to do, even non working boards I still put in antistatic bags to prevent any further damage from static from handeling.

Early days yet, don't get dispondant after the first day. I've had faults take well over a week before, real stinkers it has to be said, but some are like that. Most folks will always be glad to offer advice especially as you've tried yourself first. If you're going to do more of this stuff get some loups or a microscope, it's amazing what becomes visible with a bit of magnification.

Once my stock of M1 boards are repaired and working I put them in antistatic bags then they fit 3 to a really usefull box (bought cheaply) and stack easily without the bottom board taking lots of weight! Easy way to store 33 working boards without getting dusty or damaged! but burry them in the garden if that floats your boat!!!

Very true, but the whole thing was pretty misleading. I have had to have the top glass lamp masks out and reattach them properly as they were actually held in by old chewing gum! I couldnt believe it when my husband showed me.
