  1. You have already asked me in a PM and I have already said it is the PC in it not working, but if you want more people to advise then fine, I guess the next question will be 'who will fix the pc for me'

  3. How about you make yourself a ( skate board ) which sits under your base it also spreads the Weight and is more stable 😊

  4. been on it today.Fitted new locks, the new lamp mask fitted,i had to fix one at front as it had broken where screws fit,so i made 2 u shape brackets from alloy and glued them on,then drilled for screws.Reels fitted, coin mech cleaned and 5p 10p painted red.Payout mech cleaned and lubricated.New lamp starters and clean inside .Note the variator in its own box, superb mech with a diff gear, looks like it would drive a car.So now its a clean on the outside and ready to use

  6. Well gave these two a cleanup today, both needed after moving house in the rain at Christmas. Only just getting time to do anything. Test Pilot has since arriving had a rotten bottom. I’ve attached wheels and dried it out and it’s ok until I moved it then the wheels all started to let go as they are screwed into bad wood. Has anyone replaced (I’m sure they will have!) the base? Over the summer when time allows I want to sort this rot before it ruins the machine or collapses on me when moving it! any advice, pics would be great I’m not so good with wood. Also the rubber kick plate needs replacing. Again any ideas / help would be useful. Thanks in advance folks, hope everyone is enjoying a day off.

  9. well I am waiting now for the 33 ohm resistors to arrive so the triac stages won't work at the moment, coupled with not having the old style psu with 50vac to be able to test them with! Thought I would now run them up as am at the stage where I can do no more for now, results so far.... Board 3, boots fine now and switch outputs working Board 2, boots fine, switch outputs all fine Board 1, boots fine, all switch outputs are bad! so getting there!!!

  10. Did you look around in the bottom of the cabinet, it may have fallen off and into the bottom somewhere. Where are you located ? There are 2 others of us here in the USA with British fruit machines. I bought one over with me when I moved here 20 years ago and also found a Monopoly here. Actually I need to sell it. Fully working.

  13. Nice work for fixing his boards Andrew! I saw you mention a uv lamp for curing your solder mask. Just wondering what sort of power you use and do you blank your Eproms with it? I've been using the sun but I have to take my boards to work with me so not ideal.

  14. simple method to replace the base is first to cut through the dowels holding the bottom piece in place i have done this by drilling a pilot hole then using a jigsaw then measure the depth of the wood needed to go inside [ either 4x1 or 5x1 ] cant remember now this then can be screwed and glued from inside causing no damage to the outside of the cabinet this should leave enough to replace the old piece if its in good shape or replace with a new bit of ply for the new base piece then you can glue and screw this from the bottom you can also make 2 new pieces to sit on the bottom [ 3x1 ] i think to fix your wheels on to then then jobs done

  15. There definitely are different quality in fibre pencils! eBay ones have a plastic end and as you found poor quality inserts! I get my refills from Germany and have to buy around £30 worth of refills at a time to make it worthwhile!! Each refill works out at 50p each buying them that way! The holders I got mine from maplins when they had the good ones with the metal end! They were around £8 which was not cheap but were great quality! solder resist, it’s more expensive from the likes of RS or Farnell’s but again much better quality! Cheap does not always mean it will even work!!

  16. Yes actually the damage is quite light! Bob had already cleaned the area, so i did not have to spend much time going over it cleaning! I started at 8:15pm last night with the links and that area around the battery was finished by 9pm and green coated and under uv lamp! Another 10 mins on the 2 transistor links, so because this board has not really been ravaged by battery damage actually not that long at all! Even removing transistors and bits was a lot quicker now I have the pace desoldering station! But of course things like desoldering stations and microscopes do cost money! The links were done with the metcal soldering iron with a very fine tip and that was superb doing the links!

  17. Firstly are there 2 or 1 grub screws holding it.Remove them, you may find the shaft has been burred where grub screws have been.Apply a small amount of wd40 then gently with little movement and grips twist clockwise and anti clockwise whilst slightly pulling towards you.this should break it free.dont force it

  18. so looked at board labeled 'NO3' this one had not booted after Bob had done all his work on it! Bob just keeps saying 'sorry' for this one LOL so just had to see what was going on with it! this had a good few tracks under the battery eaten into, 2 of the tracks going to the alpha were very thin in a couple of places on each track although they were making continuity ok! some others had chunks taken out the side of them due to rot! these were repaired with my usual wire method, this is the first time I have done a MPU4 since getting my microscope and boy was it a help!! very easy to see the tracks and to position the repair wire! wished I had known about these microscopes years ago!!! The reason I think (at this point) it was not booting was the track had been eaten away just at the point it went to the ram supply transistor pad T20 , so Bobs rubbing with the fiber pen to clean the tracks just finished the track off, but this is normal as if tracks are that thin then they would not have lasted long if he had got it to work! so another track replaced! I had noticed something else....... which is a easy trap to fall into and not realise. C47 which is the decoupling capacitor for the ram is a very easy target for the battery rot and it is easily eaten away! this is a usual 0.1uf decoupling cap, but if your replacing the caps in the triac driver areas these are NOT the same! they are in fact 0.001uf so if you use these for C47 they are no use at all If you do symptoms of problems associated with this cap problem are mainly random resetting, so it is essential to put the right value AND make sure it is actually connected as the tracks to this vital component seem to always be bad! these will have the right caps fitted for sure! there was just a couple of pads which no doubt had been eaten and loosened by battery rot in the triac driver transistors which just came off when Bobtook the transistors off, but easilly repaired with 2 more small wire links to make sure it is reliable in the future, then solder resist applied! I don't know where Bob got the green solder resist from he enclosed but it must be old and out of date, it just wont come out the syringe tube! its gone hard in the tube! so just beware ebay sellers are selling stuff that is quite unusable! I used mine on these!
