  2. if you have a small table lamp and you put the board on top of it it shows the bad tracks all so if you cut the bad part of the board its easier to braid it out so you dont lift pads so much

  3. Trouble with most MPU4's with battery rot you won't find an easy repair as such. Having said that most the old hands know what, and more importantly, where to look to apply the fixes. It's quite a daunting task to acomplish first time round so don't beat yourself up over it. What you've now learnt should keep you in good stead for the next challenge. Chin up.

  8. Sorry to jump in... Great thread btw... My Simpsons m1a had a sound overlap fault that was crashing the game play. I managed to bag a spare prom card,so I swapped the cards round with the same roms and now it's working 100%. So I think I may have been incorrect in my assumptions that it was the lead between the Board and the PSU. Interesting read on your repairs too.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  10. All 3 are booting now so you will get all 3 and that way your have one as a spare the one with no switches has a blown 74ls08 ic, went round it with a oscilloscope probe, all the inputs are there but no outputs from it!, looks like in the past it most likely has had lamp voltage up it and blown it! did not take log to find.

  11. well I am waiting now for the 33 ohm resistors to arrive so the triac stages won't work at the moment, coupled with not having the old style psu with 50vac to be able to test them with! Thought I would now run them up as am at the stage where I can do no more for now, results so far.... Board 3, boots fine now and switch outputs working Board 2, boots fine, switch outputs all fine Board 1, boots fine, all switch outputs are bad! so getting there!!!

  12. Did you look around in the bottom of the cabinet, it may have fallen off and into the bottom somewhere. Where are you located ? There are 2 others of us here in the USA with British fruit machines. I bought one over with me when I moved here 20 years ago and also found a Monopoly here. Actually I need to sell it. Fully working.
