  1. Coming along slowly but surely ive made the dividers by trimming down the end caps with a Stanley knife Top glass is now done barring sticking the masks to the actual glass ...ive decided to remove the double sided tape from the trunking and have ordered some heavy duty 3M double sided foam so watch this space as you can see ive made a start on the bottom glass .....more to come as i progress :-)

  8. All 3 are booting now so you will get all 3 and that way your have one as a spare the one with no switches has a blown 74ls08 ic, went round it with a oscilloscope probe, all the inputs are there but no outputs from it!, looks like in the past it most likely has had lamp voltage up it and blown it! did not take log to find.

  9. Often the bases on these machines are fixed through the bottom of the cabinet with coach bolts. You can remove the bolts and the old base can be removed and rebuilt. I've done this with a few machines of mine over the years.

  10. The best bet is to fit a new base, not that hard, give me some pics of base inside and out.Forget dowels unless you take side off

  11. Well I have known old cyberbob (less of the old) for some time now, back from the days I was enthusiastic thinking I could help people with there machine troubles! even met old cyberbob too and he gave me some boards and bits! so I said to him send them to me and I would look!! so he did! Well Bob nothing to worry about! your soldering is good! caps soldered in very nicely, I won't touch them!! this is the board where the solenoid burnt up! I did spot this under the microscope that's one of the tracks to the alpha, it had a definite dip in the track which the probe is pointing to, and another not so bad a little way along, this track was all working but to stop troubles in the future this was remade tracks in general were good around the payout driver transistors and there condition did not look bad, I can see why Bob left them untouched, But I took them out to test Good job I did as this is what I found 3 were perfect with a current gain around 300 next one tested showed this thats the first one bad.... next was this oh dear, it tested as a transistor but its current gain had dropped from 300 to 26! clearly on its way out! this is how the battery rot does them in, they slowly loose there current gain until there is nothing left! that's when they are classed as having failed! the next yep failure as tester cannot even see it is a transistor! NEXT....... it sees this one as 2 diodes back to back! well in theory and testing with a meter that's exactly what a transistor is! but in practice they have current gain! this clearly was another bad transistor! so the pile here...... left is good! current gain all around 296, middle is fair that one had a gain of 198, right all the definite bad ones! you can see the green on the legs now too! all 8 will be replaced! but this is just to show what happens to them when battery vapors take hold!
