Ok so here is my short video showing the events. I don't talk endlessly on what I am going to show you! Queen vic bootup with dongle, you can see it boots and works DONGLE removed so you then see it boot and CONTACT MAYGAY appears! Program card is changed for my hacked rom version, NO dongle is in place! it boots and runs perfectly! just need more rom files where the dongles are needed to see if I can do the same with others! I like Maygay M1!!!! Chris what version is your dongle rom?3 points
-
Right!! Chris, If you do know what version rom yours is running (with the dongle) do let me know! I have been messing again and found I had a queen vic card and dongle Well after a bit of searching I managed to find the dongle and eventually the checksum check in the ROM, messed with it a bit and managed to get a REAL M1 machine to run perfectly WITHOUT having the dongle inserted!! quite pleased about that!! so Chris whats your software version as I want to mess some more!!2 points

I had one of these before, about 6 years ago. But I could not repair it. I did not have the skills for it, so I sold it again. That was also the time I needed this forum for repair tips and tricks. Last week I saw that advertising on marketplace , for only 20 euros 😁. And yeah, there are only a few of them in the Netherlands left.2 points

Just done a bit of digging, Barcrest founded 1968, but by 1985, and I'd forgotten this era, was a whole owned subsiduary of Bass Leisure...1 point

Isn't there a reason Barcrest were so early into electronics, I can't rack my brains what it is and google not much help, wasn't it something like one of the founders got laughed out of a vending firm for suggesting using microelectronics, or something like that. According to this recent (PR puff piece, but presumably accurate) their first product was an arcade game, in the 70's I tacked on that bit about 40,000 because it does make you realise that any machine is a relatively rare item compared to most mass produced consumer goods - I wonder how many different models that is. p.s I know I've posted this before about the design of the then-new Genesis cab, but I think we should save it before the company behind it decides its too old to host any more... http://www.lucidinnovation.com/PDF/lucid-innovation-case-study-barcrest-user-interaction-design-050313.pdf1 point

??? they are very reliable, remember it only takes one eaten away track that's not been found in the original repair to then fail a few weeks later to stop it working. I guess its like saying the tyre I just had fitted to my car wobbles terribly!, but if the fitter didn't balance it properly no wonder!1 point
