The PCP 88 range grows again in the garage with tonight’s new delivery. Thanks to amot for dropping it off and riche100 for spotting it!! this one needs some work, MPS one board fitted and worked but psu didn’t hold out for long. Going to fit new psu at the weekend and see how it goes. paint work all been re painted with a brush 😂😂😂 buttons sticky, wrong decals inside them but hey. What else do you do with time off?? looking forward to it..... remember playing it, updates to follow The bottom door needs replacing as it’s been seriously abused if anyone has one and wants to part with it? The rest I think can be dealt with. Also if anyone has the roms from the emulated version to hand could they post them on this thread so I can keep them backed up. I had this on mfme but can’t find it on my drive 😕1 point

Had a load of these in and a lot of common faults have come to light so I'll share my experiences here as it might help someone in the future. These are a bit of a pain to work on as the board and wiring are all soldered. Luckily though there is enough room to get to everything but you have to very careful not to short anything out when testing. These PSU bite if you're not careful! I found this out on about the second one I was working on. Whilst changing some components I made sure that the PSU was switched off with it's mains switch. What I didn't realise was there's 240v AC live on the 4 pin light socket which bypasses the mains switch. Even at my age it made me jump. OK, so here we go. First thing is to get those horrible old RIFA's off as if they haven't exploded already it won't be long before they do. The cases are probably cracked anyway so replace them with modern new ones. Look around as RIFA by make are really expensive. Make sure all the fuses are good and the holders have plenty of tension. Any blackend or blown fuses need to be investigated before any mains is applied. Next thing is to check the caps on the board. If they are the black ones then you'll more than likely find all the small ones are well below par, unless they've already been changed of course. Quite a few PSU's have the light blue Dublier types fitted and these appear to be good. There are 4 x 47uF/25v and 1 x 100uf/10v although you may need to fit higher voltage caps as modern ones are smaller and therefore have a smaller pitch. So far the only large cap I've had to replace is the 470uF/25v for the -12v supply. Onto powering up, Check the voltages on connector 3. The most common fault here was no 5V and this can be caused by a number of things. First thing to mention is these PSU's seem to devour 1K pots, luckily all three are 1K which saves on stock. If the low volt dropout pot goes open circuit, which it does in a lot of cases, then this will trigger the low volt sense and shut down the 5v supply. I saw one PSU that had the pot removed as well as the OP amp sensing chip so that it wouldn't shut the 5v down?? Non adjustable 5v or an unsteady voltage will be the 5v adjust pot also quite a common failure. Some examples further down. The LM723 regulator chip, so far, seems quite reliable in this position the same can't be said for the 12v one though?? Work that one out! The 12v adjust pot can also be suspect. Not had any power transistor failures as yet but these are TIP3055 so pretty robust. The -12v can fail due to the 7912 regulator. So far I've come across three different variants of this linear supply, I'm sure there will be more. This type has some 20mm fuses and slightly different component layout. This appears to be the more standard type although there are differences.... Some have an extra fuse panel to protect the transformer. Now some 1K pots. I haven't included any of the open circuit ones as you can't see anything. That took a little while to realise why it wasn't working! This one sort of worked but it wasn't stable and no wonder.1 point

Nice machine joe great memory’s of this machine from the ferry cafe in newhaven where I used to live , if I’d had had more room I probably would have bought this as well but 17 machines is the limit now not 21 😁1 point

I see that this was available in 1p or 2p play. First penny play machine I've ever seen (of this type). I wonder if the ROMs are switchable?1 point
