  1. Early 70s Bell Fruit Cabinet but another companies conversion. When BF produced those cabinets with games like Spin wheel, Lucky Twos to name two machines from that era, The max credit then was just 2p, the max payout was either 10p cash or the none replayable 25p gold award token. This machine in auction is 5p play, Has a 50p changer with 50p cash payouts which arrived later in the 70s... To note in the back where a newer set of none BF reels/wiring in the top, In the bottom left hand side of the cabinet above the control panel a later none BF timer. Having said that it looks like a different, descent game still working and like many conversions will be limited in the amount of machines still in circulation.

  2. This has been bugging me for a while as I have a load of reel sensor boards to look at that are faulty. Anyone that's been down the path of repairing these knows that the TIL143 are very difficult if not impossible to buy as they were obsolete many moons ago. A seller is listing an equivalent on Ebay and I have sourced some from eleswhere and these are OPB866. I've also stocks of various other types which are the same footprint but I couldn't understand why none of them worked?? After endless searching on the net I was unable to find the datasheet for the TIL143 and came across loads of other's posts not being able to find it either. To cut a long story short I'd made the natural assumption that all these photo interupters would be identical. After many hours of head scratching wondering why it was only the TIL143's that would work on the boards it dawned on me that perhaps they were different to all the modern ones. Lo and behold that's what it turned out to be and not really in technical sperformance either, it was simpler than that. From what I've found, playing about with them, is that the detectors are fitted the opposite way round to all the modern types ie collectors and emitters reversed! From here the next thing was to design a new circuit board to take the newer types and as a proof of concept I've come up with this. Mine is on the left and I've added the luxury of taking both widths of pin spacing too. So far I've tried 3 more modern types and they all work. I have a few more to test later so I'll update the thread but there's no reason to suspect that they won't. I haven't posted before as I was a bit unsure that something so simple was amiss and that noboby else had come across it but I'm feeling a lot more confident now I've made the new board.

  3. Crazy Climber Tech MPU4 Here's another Crystal clubber, this time from the late 90's (1998). There's loads going on with this machine which makes it both fun and interesting to play. It does have it's faults though. 1 - No Sound as yet but it may turn up, you never know in fme land. 2 - It only pays out in 20p's as I can't find the hopper settings. If anyone knows them please let me know and I'll update accordingly. Keyboard shortcuts in the notes section of the emulator. Thanks to Wizard for the emulator. The rom & image providers. Please use MFME V19.8 or later to play Crazy Climber.zip

  5. It is very pink and should be named Girlie Crazy Climber. Pleasing to the eye(like most of your layouts) I'm sure the sound roms will pop up and as for the 20p fix at least it pays out for now. Thank you Chloe.

  7. You faith was misplaced Mick lol! The board booted and ran fine for about 30mins so my repairs all held up... genuinely thought I'd cracked it as it played totally fine. Unfortunately it reset (no errors) and then started getting more frequent, about every 5mins. Tonight I changed x2 1000pf Electrolytic caps a diode and found two transistor pins touching so parted those. Now it's just reseting from the get go no boot at all. The electrolytic caps I borrowed off another board so they could be worse. I choose these thinking that they might not be discharging enough and smoothing the supply (to the FPGA and also above the battery) Will try some new ones but then it's hold out until I get a nice looking Pal chip. Im pretty sure I've done all the hard work so may just put this one to one side for now. I'll hopefully get a few more Scorp 4's in.
