  1. BFM/Whitbread - Casino Royale Tech: SCORPION 2 This time from me is a pub AWP, this one is from Bell Fruit's Barcode era (early / mid 90's). Break the barcode to get access to the features - a simple enough machine to play. Keyboard shortcuts in the notes section of the emulator. Thanks to Wizard for the emulator. The rom & image providers. Please use MFME V19.8 or later to play. Casino Royale.zip

  8. I've been working on a board that's been driving me nuts. It's been a good learning curve though, looking on the bright side, and I'm glad to say I've sussed it too. This one was odd because when cold it wouldn't alarm, just start the boot process and stop with the top left LED only. Once it warmed up it would then alarm and then try to boot again and carry on infinitum. In desperation I'd tested all the main IC's plus the two TMS9902's and all proved to be innocent. All signals out of the CPU buffer chips looked good too! To warm up it would take about half an hour, once in this state switching on or off for about 5 mins would change the state of alarming or not. Freezer and heat really proved nothing although I did find IC20 may have been sensitive. Once I'd swapped it out it started alarming every time even from cold so I put the original chip back in and that was now the same?? Normally this chip suffers as it's next to the battery but this one looked as good as new. Some of the joints did look a little crusty so it was probably good to get a socket in anyway. Next thing there was a track eaten away under where the battery was. I suspect this only went to the side DIN socket so not performing any particular function for normal use. I repaired it anyway and reflowed a few more via's which looked a bit crusty around the battery area. The next thing was the two resistors R132 and 133 which I think set the timing of IC35. The 150K (R132) read about 70K and then jumped around all over the shop. The 56K ( R133) wasn't particularly happy either. Once replaced and switched on BINGO she booted. I still don't really know what the main cause was as I'd checked the waveform to the RAM (CS2) which is controlled by IC35 and it looked OK but who knows? I know folks remove this chip as it does cause problems and they aren't obtainable any more. For home use though it's not really an issue.
