With MPU3 I find the Green and the Red (reel4) are the worst. If you have really sticky ones, most times a squirt of switch cleaner helps no end as it cleans the pins and lubricates the shells.2 points

....and another one. With this one I anticipated the worse as the power and ground would have gone up the wrong pins. After re-seating in the correct place it all burst in to life and passed the diags and game software!! If all faults were like this I'd be able to take the day off!2 points

Yeah that’s the system I’ve been doing for twenty years with them....and they still fuck me about.2 points

One on the bench this afternoon. Alarmed on boot up then after a while would magically boot but failed any tests (locked up) to do with switch or reels. I was just about to start removing the TMS9902's when I noticed this... Nice easy one for a change. Once the leg was reseated all the main tests passed with flying colours. Still one fault remains and that is it still fails the serial tests? Went back to IC5 (TMS9902) but it wasn't that so a bit more head scratching on this one.2 points

ah ok I used the built in graphic editor to adjust the colour, right click on the image in properties and select graphic editor. I then used the Green slider to adjust the image and then clicked assign.1 point

The volcano lamps are actually defined but both colours are yellow in the original, just modify the red bitmap images to suit:1 point

UPDATE - It's the second lamp, number 189. I changed the image, got the Red Sky at Night and it is showing it as red (albeit with the outline). One other issue is with the sounds. I watched some youtube videos again and noticed that if you get the bonus as boost, it should make a noise for each of the numbers as they go up and the tone gets higher for each one. Now to work out how to get the background sorted I tried editing the graphics but think I need to play a bit more with it1 point

Look at the coin mechs first, sounds like a coin switch is stuck or held down by a coin. If a BF electro hold/nudge and variator timer start when machine switched on then it's a coin switch putting machine in credit, if switch jams and does not return to it's rest position it prevents the machine from accepting money and disables start button.1 point

Agree with Chris,if it was working then cant be much. These are so much easier to fix than mpu versions.could also be a failed micro switch.ron will deffo know1 point

It's like all these techs, once you've worked on them for a while you slowly pick up all the little quirks and the faulting starts to get a bit easier. (he said with fingers tightly crossed)1 point

Best of luck rob .its just fiddly mixing paint colours .the other thing is that most of the colours printed on the various cabinets are more than one colour which .makes it more difficult to get right .will be great to see a before and after picture of the ares you are doing1 point
