Hi Guys. Here is a special edition MFME layout for you - from 1981. SIDEWINDER (ACE). This was not an easy redraw, but as we are celebrating 20 years of MFME, it was well worth it! Thanks go to Altharic for the original classic/ROMS Hitthesix for the rare photo. Reg (desertislandfruits.com) for testing. Riche100 for the enclosed original Sidewinder manual. Wizard for making fruit machine emulation possible! I hope you give this a good thrashing, especially if you have never played it before, as this game was truly iconic and ahead of it's time! Layout: SIDEWINDER -ACE -V1.1.zip4 points

Hi Dicky Hope you are well, and thank you for all your efforts designing, producing, and supplying the various tools for the Fruit Machine Community. Just wondering if you have any update on when the Button Nut remover tool will be available to purchase please π€ Many thanks π2 points

Hi all Hope you're keeping safe and well ππ Well this lock down does get to you a bit and anything old fruit machine related unless its not nailed down, I seem to be buying (which works well in a two up two down house the smaller ones you get with no corridors) yep that's mine...and just bought my 10th machine...10th π€¦ββοΈ I love it though and it's worth it! Working on this and an old Maygay Cashdrop machine too. This is a little post of the EWN in its current state a few days ago to now. Its going to take a while to do! From the pics you will see the cabinet is in a bad way, internally isn't too bad but has been totally sorted and fixed into place. The reels were on a deck with no lighting behind them, as we know these need to light up, so luckily had an old deck with the lighting on so swapped these over. The bands were held together with the original JPM tape which had gone yellow so any lighting from behind would of shown the awful yellow tape and manky old adhesive staining the reels. The pics also show the state of these, with patience (about 4-5 hours) warm soapy water and a little scraping tool this slowly came off, along with a bit of the whitening on the bands. Will touch these up with paint (colour matched at homebase) then when dried, lighty painted black like original so these patches should go and the bands will look better, also a cracked band too has been looked at and fixed. The surrounds and button holder section will be chromed and powder coated black hopefully π€ Its all good fun as we all love it So this was the plea out on here the other day for a replacement glass, as the one I have is truly battered.1 point

Yesterday morning I thought I'd have a go at doing a DX for Super Red Bar. What do you think to it? WIP - Finished layout.bmp1 point

I really want to try and keep the tools under the section we are posting in .. as in "Old fruity Projects" where these tools are really for use on 1990s type machines The Downside with the more modern Gamesman Buttons is there are a million and one button combinations ( see here ) http://www.gamesman.co.uk/730.html So its difficult to exactly make or Sell a tool to fit the whole range ... and i dont have any experience of these type ... also as i have mentioned my Workload ( for my real job ) is now increasing as we are coming out of Lockdown, so im having less time to spend on making these tools now, and when im fully back to work and traveling i will not be able to supply these at all, so get them while you can . I need to spend the next week making the button Kit as previously discussed as im getting more and more requests for these, and each kit takes a day and a half to 3D Print so i need to have some stock before i sell So on the Gamesman buttons tools .... i will have to politely decline making these... sorry all the best ... dicky1 point

Im hoping some time next week, im going to print 4 complete sets before i put them on Ebay, they take 28 hours each to print so don't want to build up hopes or let anyone down if i have any printing issues ... they have to be perfect before i will sell them ... there should be a review soon from member that lives local to me and has the first Production set Can you post a picture in your thread and i will see if it can be done first ... all the best .... dicky1 point

I have learnt a lot along the way ... some of it i learnt 30 years ago but needed reminding on hopefully it will inspire others to do this maybe with other techs ... or maybe start making things with a 3D printer ... ( have you got it up and running yet Andrew ) all the best ... Dicky1 point

Another board on the bench today that the reset led stayed stuck on. Spent a while looking for a stuck in reset fault only to discover it was actually the chip that drives the 7 segment display and reset led. Once changed the reset led went out after 4 secs as it should but it wouldn't boot. IC20 and 13 (74LS541) had been swapped out as they were faulty. All the data lines showed good o/p's out of the buffer chip ic14 (74LS245). 3 or 4 address lines out of CPU were stopping instantly after reset so I was a bit confused what was going on? From here the old faulting technique starts going a bit awry. Thinking it might be the ULA's or the reel processor chip or even the TMS9902's made me waste a lot of time and effort before I did a final check and sussed it. Checking all the address lines showed no shorts or anything untoward but moving on to the data buffer chip I hit upon the issue. Using a pulse generator and a probe I thought I'd check that the chip was also passing data the opposite way, back towards the CPU. As I was checking (with CPU removed) all the ports were looking good so I was getting a bit despondant when all of a sudden I slipped with the logic probe and touched the next pin along!! The signal was on that pin as well, it was also the same on a couple of other adjacent ports so the chip was leaking internally. You couldn't make this stuff up. A quick swap of ic14 and it burst into life. Phew!1 point

Hi guys ... Last post for a while on the test rig, as its now all complete, i now have all the Test rom carts running ... its been a fun journey and a sense of achievement, as it is something i have always wanted to build ... wish i had done it 20 years ago ... but better late than never .. it certainly has filled the time during Lockdown which im sure will be coming to an end or easing off based on todays NHS figures ... So thanks guys for all the help in making this happen and i hope you have enjoyed sharing my Test Rig experience and it also started the tools thread which took me by surprise, as i did not think that there would be such a demand ... i still have the spade switch wire insertion tool to complete and also the button tool kit ... all coming soon When i find time i have some MPU4 units to repair and test on the rig so i will tag that onto this thread sometime in the future all the best ...
