Just found another test sequence on the rig. The hex switch lights lamps 2C-2F in binary when switch 02 is thrown. I'm sure there's more tests in there somewhere, probably a RAM test at least?2 points

Hi guys just a quick update on the toolbox.... with some Good News and Bad news The Good news is i had a visit here at Dickys workshop yesterday ( social distancing of course ) from Homer_1209 a forum member here and someone who lives relatively local to me, he came to pick up his tool kit as it was a bit pointless posting when living close by. it was nice to meet someone especially as i have been in isolation for over 2 months with no visitors and it was nice to have a chat about all thing Fruity related, show him the 3D printer in action, and demo the test rig etc.. Many thanks Homer for popping by and for buying the toolkit The Bad News is ... dont do your costings after you have sold your products as things have slowed down a bit now i decided to start printing the Button Toolkits yesterday evening as promised, i also put together a spread sheet to work out manufacturing costs of each item that im selling which worked out super cool as all you have to do is enter the info from the slicer which is final weight of material, length of material and time it takes to print each unit ... the spreadsheet calculates the cost of electricity, overheads, postage, eBay, and papal fees etc to give you the final selling price for Ebay ... so good so far... until you look at the bottom line ... ooops During this process of making the tools most of the costs were calculated in my head and based on rough estimates, what i didn't take into account was the learning curve along the way ... When i started this project, i was buying PLA Filament from amazon and eBay for around £15 per reel delivered ... but as the demand for Filament rose because of everyone 3D printing face masks for the NHS and because most suppliers in China had shut down, the price also rose as well ... after around 2 weeks, the cheapest PLA Filament i could get was £18 from Amazon .... when 3 reels arrived from amazon i was suspicious as it was translucent and did not seem to be the best quality, any way i went with it and started to print the products .... it was awful the prints were stringy and i had to abandon prints half way though so in the end i threw out the crap reels of Filament, put on a reel of White Filament that i originally bought from RS and the results were perfect, i knew that RS had this quality Filament in stock so ordered the white, Yellow and Purple reels for these products and the quality was top notch ... i was very pleased that was until yesterday when i made my spreadsheet, all my original costs were based on £15 Filament from ebay but the RS price for Filament is 29.33 inc delivery and VAT... gulp on the smaller Items like the pullers and insertion tools which use smaller weights of Filament, im still breaking even.. which is good, but on the items like the MPU4 pul tabs and Button Toolkit which use a large amount of Filament per set i was making a huge loss because of the doubling of the material price, it also didn't help when i started printing in a higher resolution with no infill because this makes the items stronger but uses more material but it is beneficial. So unfortunately i have had to increase the price of the MPU4 Pull Tabs to £19.99 and the Button Kit comes out at £32.99 ... hopefully most people who wanted the pull tabs have already bought them and the Button kit is a custom made to order item that is not mass produced and is of top quality, so that reflects in the price . I just wanted to be upfront and honest with you guys so you don't think i'm a greedy grabbing bar stool ... Hi all Hope you're keeping safe and well 👍🙂 Well this lock down does get to you a bit and anything old fruit machine related unless its not nailed down, I seem to be buying (which works well in a two up two down house the smaller ones you get with no corridors) yep that's mine...and just bought my 10th machine...10th 🤦♂️ I love it though and it's worth it! Working on this and an old Maygay Cashdrop machine too. This is a little post of the EWN in its current state a few days ago to now. Its going to take a while to do! From the pics you will see the cabinet is in a bad way, internally isn't too bad but has been totally sorted and fixed into place. The reels were on a deck with no lighting behind them, as we know these need to light up, so luckily had an old deck with the lighting on so swapped these over. The bands were held together with the original JPM tape which had gone yellow so any lighting from behind would of shown the awful yellow tape and manky old adhesive staining the reels. The pics also show the state of these, with patience (about 4-5 hours) warm soapy water and a little scraping tool this slowly came off, along with a bit of the whitening on the bands. Will touch these up with paint (colour matched at homebase) then when dried, lighty painted black like original so these patches should go and the bands will look better, also a cracked band too has been looked at and fixed. The surrounds and button holder section will be chromed and powder coated black hopefully 🤞 Its all good fun as we all love it So this was the plea out on here the other day for a replacement glass, as the one I have is truly battered.1 point

Fantastic frig - well done on the redraw...I'm sure I've played this with just the reels visible (possibly on MAME or something - not sure) but with all the peripheral artwork, it feels like being in The Coffee Shop arcade back at the beginning of the eighties, having a few spins while I waited for my 'Breville cheese toasted sandwich' to be brought out from the kitchen - what a novelty back then! Keep up the good work - you're doing brilliantly! Thanks also goes to Wizard for his incredible emulator - is it really 20 years of FME? We're so blessed to have you back on the scene you started Chris...legendary.1 point

Thank you to eveyone involved for this layout. I did play a couple of these on the odd occasion but didn't see too many of them. I do remember I think was a Barcrest one in our local pub. I think it was B.crest because the jackpot tune was simular to the mpu2/3 tune. I cannot remember how you entered the nudge feature but had nudges which you could gamble and the reels would spin to the new reel positions to the new relevant win. Reels would also sometimes swap around to give a win. I cannot remember the name of the machine. It was replaced by Exchanges Unlimited.1 point

Another board on the bench today that the reset led stayed stuck on. Spent a while looking for a stuck in reset fault only to discover it was actually the chip that drives the 7 segment display and reset led. Once changed the reset led went out after 4 secs as it should but it wouldn't boot. IC20 and 13 (74LS541) had been swapped out as they were faulty. All the data lines showed good o/p's out of the buffer chip ic14 (74LS245). 3 or 4 address lines out of CPU were stopping instantly after reset so I was a bit confused what was going on? From here the old faulting technique starts going a bit awry. Thinking it might be the ULA's or the reel processor chip or even the TMS9902's made me waste a lot of time and effort before I did a final check and sussed it. Checking all the address lines showed no shorts or anything untoward but moving on to the data buffer chip I hit upon the issue. Using a pulse generator and a probe I thought I'd check that the chip was also passing data the opposite way, back towards the CPU. As I was checking (with CPU removed) all the ports were looking good so I was getting a bit despondant when all of a sudden I slipped with the logic probe and touched the next pin along!! The signal was on that pin as well, it was also the same on a couple of other adjacent ports so the chip was leaking internally. You couldn't make this stuff up. A quick swap of ic14 and it burst into life. Phew!1 point

The routing on a 125 separator is set by the wired link plugs inside the clear panel. there is usually a guide printed on the panel, if not here is pic.. It shows that the 125 can accept 4 coins but as it's only 3 way separation, two are down same output. Your 111 mech only needs to accept £1, 50p and 10p coins as 20p is S10 mechanical mech.1 point

If only it was that easy!! Replacement 8255 chips arrived today so put one in and ...... nothing, wouldn't even boot! Thinking I've just bought a load of duds so before trying another one I thought I'd just check some things. Lo and behold there was no signal on SEL3 which appears on pin6 of IC38. Quick check with the meter and it's 35 Ohms to ground, that's not good. SEL3 comes from the PAL chip and when that was removed the short went. Borrowed a PAL chip from another board and the signal returned. It would now boot but still no lamp activity. Next step was to check the C0-3 lines out of IC38 and C3 had no output. Out with the meter again and yet another short to ground!! You couldn't make this up. This time IC27 (74LS04) had gone bad. Once replaced I could now scan the lamps 50-5F. Is that it you ask? Well not quite, lamps 60-6F don't light and I'm not sure why yet. When it switches from 50-5F to 60-6F the MUX timeout kicks in so a bit more head scratching yet. I'll get there eventually.1 point
