  2. I have a couple of MMM boards in at present which both work (almost) but I haven't been able to test them fully as I didn't have a reel deck. The nice thing with this old tech is the board bolts on the back of the reel deck so it is a contained unit. With other techs that I don't have reel decks for, which is most of them, I use my Arduino to emulate it. So far this has worked admirably but the MMM was a no go. Most other techs as long as it thought the reels had indexed it didn't care about reel position. Not so with the MMM. It needed to know exactly where the reels were. Also most reel sets have just one tab for the index, others an extra ring of tabs for the counter but for all intents and purposes you could ignore this. Now the MMM has two rings of tabs and they both have 8 tabs placed around the reel. There are 4 positions where they line up (synch tabs) and the rest don't. In the end after a couple of weeks writing code and getting nowhere I decide to emulate the all tabs in software and blow me it only worked. I have to say I'm not a coder by any stretch of the imagination and for the guys that worked out MAME and stuff would think this was all a bit childs play. For me though it was absolute heaven so I thought I'd blow my own trumpet. One board I know I've sorted but another has a lamp fault where all the lamps eventually go out. It's a wierd one that's for sure and will be documented here when I get to the bottom of it. Watch this space......

  9. Holy moly 😳 absolutely brilliant work so far, wow! You've taken some great pictures of your work so far, really does look amazing! My part rebuild is embarrassingly bad compared to this, you must be in the carpentry industry with work like that, if not you need to be! Superb job so far, loving the updates and keep up the great work πŸ™‚πŸ‘

  10. Thanks guys, all the bit are loose as I am still making the template for the other side. Every piece will be have the vinyl put on before final assembly. I am going to keep 1 piece of the cab the one that had the solenoids on. That way its still got a bits of the original in it. To be fair it’s the only one that can be saved.

  12. Wow this is a total rebuild !I didn't realise you were replacing all the wood!its a job and half and looks fantastic. Great work .the only thing I'll say is that maybe you could have put the vinyl on the internal wood parts you have remade before reassembly. Cant wait to see the finished cab .brilliant stuff πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ

  23. You're exactly right, that's the only difference. JPM were notoriously lazy on their upgrade glasses - they didn't even bother to redesign the reel glasses to reflect the newer style fruit graphics that they had upgraded to! I suspect that this machine has an original top glass but a new reel glass.

  29. Wow what an amazing start, the new cabinet will look great and is also taking shape already! It looks a really challenging project that's for sure, I do have the un duluxed version of Special Reserve, so if you need any pictures or info for reference for yours just let me know πŸ™‚ Its absolutely worth saving and bringing back to life as its a nice game and machine.

  31. WOW. Thats one hell of a project. Wish I had both the time and the patience to do something like this. The only project I have in the pipeline is putting the blinking christmas icicle lights up on the outside guttering for her indoors... A question... I loaded up the emulated version of Special Reserve DELUXE. The one in your project looks totally identical but doesn't have the DELUXE graphic. I was under the impression that the DELUXE version was the Β£4 Jackpot and the 'none deluxe' was Β£3 Jackpot. Sp what IS the difference?

  34. Good luck on the rebuild, it is a real challenge! I probably have got a spare mps game card, although it will need the roms sorting, that’s way above my ability πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ let me know if you would like one. Keep us posted on the progress πŸ‘πŸ‘
