Well if its only that split end, you could just inject some glue into the split and clamp to compress the gap closed, then its original and pretty much as good as new, rub dwn re-paint, all done. but its your machine and your choice, great work so far, try the repair and use the time to make a template, so you can see the results and choose from there.2 points

I have a couple of MMM boards in at present which both work (almost) but I haven't been able to test them fully as I didn't have a reel deck. The nice thing with this old tech is the board bolts on the back of the reel deck so it is a contained unit. With other techs that I don't have reel decks for, which is most of them, I use my Arduino to emulate it. So far this has worked admirably but the MMM was a no go. Most other techs as long as it thought the reels had indexed it didn't care about reel position. Not so with the MMM. It needed to know exactly where the reels were. Also most reel sets have just one tab for the index, others an extra ring of tabs for the counter but for all intents and purposes you could ignore this. Now the MMM has two rings of tabs and they both have 8 tabs placed around the reel. There are 4 positions where they line up (synch tabs) and the rest don't. In the end after a couple of weeks writing code and getting nowhere I decide to emulate the all tabs in software and blow me it only worked. I have to say I'm not a coder by any stretch of the imagination and for the guys that worked out MAME and stuff would think this was all a bit childs play. For me though it was absolute heaven so I thought I'd blow my own trumpet. One board I know I've sorted but another has a lamp fault where all the lamps eventually go out. It's a wierd one that's for sure and will be documented here when I get to the bottom of it. Watch this space......2 points

I have recently purchased a very sick special reserve machine. I had never seen one before so it was not bought for memories of my missed spent youth. I felt like it could be a good project to do so I thought I would post stages of work over the next few weeks/ months. I was hoping to get some help and advise if I get stuck. Some parts are missing mainly the display card in the top glass and the game card. first question is can anyone help on either of the missing parts? I will buy them, but I guess they are hard to find. I don’t often post on the chat as I am not an expert on these machines but I know a couple of you have helped me out in the past. the project is not to make money just to add to my small collection. I will try and post a few pictures of the way it looked when I got it. the plan is to make a new cab from what I have left from the old one. I reckon it’s at least 3” shorter than it started I hope someone can help with the two parts to start with.1 point

I'd probably do the same because it's an awkward shape with lots of holes in it. Be careful with that white mold though, it's nasty stuff.1 point

Fantastic stuff, I'm gobsmacked. With the way you are flowing you'll have it all up and working before you know it. Amazing!!1 point

Very impressive chippy skills there @Funfairwayne look forward to seeing the finished article!1 point

I used flooring too but it was 18mm for an older JPM machine as it was 18mm it was made from, I found one side was smoother than the other, as you say it may look ok with the black wood effect stuff, I had to get some custom printed to match1 point

Nice work, when I did my cabinet I found the chipboard too bumpy and it showed through the vinyl! I wished I had used MDF. I had to use primer in multiple coats then flat sand it! Never again! Ronnie1 point

Thats some really impressive work, I did my pinball, an altogether simpler cabinet, and failed to impress, so took the easy route and just bought a repro, even that did not compare to this, thanks for sharing, great work and good luck in getting the electro stuff working.1 point

a 'please' or a 'thankyou' would be good! guys here help and are human and respond better to some manners, please bear in mind this is not a dedicated help desk! (free technial help R us) if you cannot take the time to count the green and red flashes then no fault code can be determined and everything is a guess. good luck in your quest1 point

Yes there is a emulator that is needed to run these games, however you need to head over to www.desertislandfruits.com and sign up there then you will be able to download the emulator (MFME V20) and also there are lots more layouts there too. Oh and yes we are a friendly bunch over there as well as here.1 point

It was open season on both mechanical and more with electro mechanical machines, not only companies specialising in conversions springing up but both major and the small operators all over the country dabbled in their own rebuilds, some were very Good whilst others would just change the reel glass and name of the machine, much of it to extend the working life of their machines. It was only with the arrival with the mpu and software controlled machines did the major manufacturers become protective with copyright.1 point

Work has started on making a template for the sides. I have decided to make the new cab out of 22mm chipboard flooring. £13.00 a sheet at b&q. The good thing being I can get all the insides cut to a standard width and all the same from b&q. the pics show that I had to guess the correct height so it maybe slightly out. I hope this is of interest to someone.1 point
