Hi all Hope you're keeping safe and well 👍🙂 Well this lock down does get to you a bit and anything old fruit machine related unless its not nailed down, I seem to be buying (which works well in a two up two down house the smaller ones you get with no corridors) yep that's mine...and just bought my 10th machine...10th 🤦♂️ I love it though and it's worth it! Working on this and an old Maygay Cashdrop machine too. This is a little post of the EWN in its current state a few days ago to now. Its going to take a while to do! From the pics you will see the cabinet is in a bad way, internally isn't too bad but has been totally sorted and fixed into place. The reels were on a deck with no lighting behind them, as we know these need to light up, so luckily had an old deck with the lighting on so swapped these over. The bands were held together with the original JPM tape which had gone yellow so any lighting from behind would of shown the awful yellow tape and manky old adhesive staining the reels. The pics also show the state of these, with patience (about 4-5 hours) warm soapy water and a little scraping tool this slowly came off, along with a bit of the whitening on the bands. Will touch these up with paint (colour matched at homebase) then when dried, lighty painted black like original so these patches should go and the bands will look better, also a cracked band too has been looked at and fixed. The surrounds and button holder section will be chromed and powder coated black hopefully 🤞 Its all good fun as we all love it So this was the plea out on here the other day for a replacement glass, as the one I have is truly battered.1 point

Hi Slots Welcome to The Mecca. I'm not familiar with the machine but I have a mass load of reelbands so I'll take a look and see if I can help. If you can post some pictures of what you're looking for then I'll see what I can do.1 point

I must admit I do have a small working retro games collection too see pictures my favourite out of the retrospective has to be the sega dreamcast1 point

Indeed i got the dreamcast on launch day back in 1999 and for retro purposes I rebuilt my collection last year . it was probobally the most underrated console to date. segas problem with the Saturn was its difficulty to code for and the way they had been pissing off developers for the last few years so quite a few gave the dreamcast a wide birth(EA being the main one with its popular FIFA football game)even though they embedded it with Windows CE to make porting PC games easy. SEGA had the idea of using the gigabyte CD rom disk known as a gd rom to help curb piracy that the PlayStation suffered with a normal cd rom disks (oddly not the Saturn)but they left a weakness in the system by allowing mini disks to boot without the proper security checks thus allowing those boot CDs to surface and gd rom games could be ripped down and burned to normal CDs and the whole anti paracy measures could be bypasses without the need for a mod chip. segas thinking must have been that the system would be more secure as gd roms could not be read by a normal CD/DVD burner found in a PC but software was coded using the easy to program dreamcast that actually used the consoles own GD rom drive to read the disk. the later verson dreamcast motherboard had this back door hack fixed but it was then too late. had they used a DVD drive with better security and had a better relationship with developers the console would have succeeded and we could have now been on the DC 2,3 or 4.1 point
