  2. Yes I have found these to be troublesome! I have done a bit more to the board that did not work, spent more money in bits.... and so far it looks to run on battery power and it is identified when on. Need to see if it will continue to run as only got the last of the bits needed today

  3. Top Cherry, Early 70s electro from Bell Fruit. Random holds and gamble feature offered when the "Top" symbol appears on the first reel win line plus mystery win payouts. 2.5p play and all cash in 10p/5p with the small replayable 6d or 2.5p token payout on all wins. slight glass fade, Cabinet and inside hardware looks in very good condition considering it's now 50 years age. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Top-Cherry-Fruit-Machine/114623941214?hash=item1ab01e8a5e:g:OBUAAOSw5aRf-21l

  4. Well, I fired it up on Monday morning. Lights came on straight away, which is always a good sign. There were 68 credits on the counter. The first few games the reels were stiff to start. I left in for an hour with the lights on, and it was away nicely. The first payout was a bit staggery (technical term, there), and the first feature win took a while to start, but all was well by lunchtime. There was an odd fault; as soon as the credit counter reached zero, it immediately ran up two plays! Turned out a wire in the coin accepter had looped itself over the 5p-2 plays coin trigger. Easiest fix yet. The coin mechs needed a clean and polish, but everything came out OK. The 6d/2½p tokens are smaller than a tanner, and so light that everything has to be spotless to get good results. It's great finally to have something that uses them. It pays out tokens only, but takes 5p (2 plays) and 10p (four plays). The coin entry was originally triple, taking 6d as well, but this has been blanked-off. Gameplay is good; long spin for your money, plenty of holds (no tampering with the selector), and enough of the Top Cherry feature to keep you playing without it becoming boring. There are two 'options' on the reel mech, both of which I've turned off. I'll go back to them later. Just enjoying playing it at the moment. A delightful machine.
