  1. Sometime back I had a fault with one of the SIL resistor networks that I covered here. Had another board on the bench today with exactly the same fault! Half the network was OK but the other was floating in the breeze. On removal it split into two. As I knew what was coming I checked it with the microscope first to see if there was a hairline crack but nothing at all could be seen? Any light pressure applied to the component or even the surrounding board was enough to make it work (or not work). It's quite a coincedence that the same network has failed in the same position on two different occaisons. Definitely one to look out for in future. If that wasn't bad enough there was also a fault on the reel CPU (TMS7041, 24800) which showed up as a dead motor drive on one port. Once that was sorted I then hit a real head scratcher. Instigating test 0x18 on the diags, which should light all the lamps 50-5F just sends the board into reset? If the Vmux is disconnected it doesn't go to reset????? Not sure what the logic is here but whatever it is it's stopping the board from running game software too! As far as I can tell there is no link to the Vmux supply and the logic so at present I'm stumped. Always tomorrow I suppose.

  3. I have a spare SX-70 that’s in need of refurbishment, so to make up a RS order I went searching for the push switch! The one on the tool was stuck and non operational, pace only supply the complete board, cable and plug as some really high price! The switch is a old ITT made in France one no longer made! But it now seems to be made by C and K also in France! It arrived today and at a cost of 71p inc vat it looks to be a perfect match!!! new switch on the left!

  6. Heres a wdx of maygays big night out,i was pointed to the classic and had a play and thought it was great so thought i'd attemt a redraw with the flyer availible.I't aint the best dx graphics wise as the machine was in the middle of a large flyer,i've done the best i could with what was availible.a big thanks to M1adness for the classic which i borrowed the fruit decal, the flyer and rom supplier, ady £6inTokens and ploggy for the advice and looking over the layout during the making, thankyou to all.P.S i tried filling it up enough to get the cashpots a little higher but my xp tower as my vista system runs the layout to slow but it kept cutting out,but seen as the layout gives a good game on the board and gamble it's still a excellent game to play. Shortcut normal apart from M For 10p stake. Mike Reids Big Night Out Wdx.zip

  7. Morning all, just to be clear, my recent rant about unlicensed AWP sellers was not aimed at Legacy & pre legacy machines ( like the stuff we all collect ) its aimed solely at people selling modern machines in big numbers without an operating license, theres loads of fruit machines for sale & wanted on Facebook & theres clearly people selling them commercially without the proper licence, i have to pay £5k per year for our Sell, Supply , Manufacture & repair license, these guys are just flouting the law, which makes it an uneven playing field in my eyes, we dont sell much in the lines of AWP other than PX`s we take that we just flip into licenced dealers we know, we have to hold a licence for Cranes, redemption machines & the likes of that as they are all classified as gambling, im about to approach the GC to see if they will listen about making legacy & machines before that Exempt from the Gambling laws, probably on a 20-25 year rolling age ( bit like classic car tax ), i will try this through a consultant to see if we can make any headway. cheers for now, Ian
