I have one and it works great on watch straps and jewellery, you see the dirt float off!, when I tried to do some pinball playfield posts which was quite some ground in dirt, it did get it off but being the ultrasonic baths have timers on them it was not enough and if I remember correctly had to set it running lots of times before I could see a difference. for me ultrasonics was too slow to be useful and the bath was to small to do anything but the smaller parts.

Depends what you mean by patina,old dull rings etc look new when they come out.basically it sends sonic waves through the bath and you can see it.this helps break loose the crud and crumble it away.im not 100% sure but I would say it will help.everything I've cleaned has been very sparkly and like new.and use warm water,most have heaters built in
