  1. Well, all mechs and pay-out solenoids stripped, cleaned and reassembled. Bell stripped and repainted and built up most of the top section. Reel mech stripped and clutch washers soaking in Neatsfoot oil.

  2. Its the reel index solenoids and their associated parts. Remove the solenoids and clean the plungers and the coil inserts. do not use any lubricant when fitting back as that will make them stick. There is a small hole in the top of each solenoid, Make sure that is not blocked as must be kept clear. Check the solenoid springs are not broken and have enough to push the solenoid plunger down when released. they tend to get squashed over time.. finally remove the lift arms, there is only a spring clip holding them on, clean the brass bush and the shaft it fits on, you can use some grease to lubricate that part.

  7. They were always known as wipers and studs but never told the exact composition other than looks like a mixture of copper arms with a small brass stud on the end and brass reel board studs, A fault described in BF workshops to recognise serious reel wiper problems were brass filings on the reel shelf. I just clean them with Autosol making sure no residue left on the end stud

  8. Ron, I have similar wiper contacts on one of my pinball machines. What would you recommend to clean them. It’s low voltage / low current input back to the main board. Thanks Oldskooler
