  5. Thanks Dicky,CanonMan I'm glad we're roughly all thinking on the same lines. As for drawing out the schematic it's going to be real guesswork as to the internal structure of that chip. I don't have the required knowledge to bit bash it to work it out and wouldn't want to attempt it either in case of damage. This is one totally non-replaceable chip!

  6. I finally got my hands on one thanks to Phil and Martin! But it really was a hell of a day out that. Anything that could go wrong went wrong:) Felt like an episode of Fawlty Towers Was nice to meet such a friendly and knowledgeable guy in Phil. Went through everything with me and made sure I was 100% happy with what I was paying and the machine. Even gave me a bag of coins to go with it! I know he could have sold it ten times over and for more than I paid for it so I really appreciate him letting me have it. CHEERS PHIL I OWE YA I'll do a video at some point, mainly because Steve has shamed me into it really. I'm not one for showing what I have got, but I guess that's pretty selfish of me as I love watching Steve's vids on youtube. So whatever I put in the house I'll do a video of from now on. Anyway, here she is, in the front room, playing perfectly

  11. Bloody hell Rich, is there nothing you can't find.👍 Any info on that chip would be a real bonus. That would save me many hours of head scratching and my old eyesight too.

  12. Love these early style Barcrests. Lovely looking machines there Nick. I bet these types gave BFM a run for their money back in the day with added sounds and gambles over what we're mostly electro's at the time.

  14. Well it was never going to be a quick job. I’ve a lot of other stuff in my life. The last 2 nights however have been very productive. Thanks to Ron’s excellent tutorials my reel mech is stripped, cleaned and put back together. Miraculously I didn’t have any ‘bits’ left after the rebuild

Very nice dicky and thanks for taking the time to find out a little of the background .the machine from which this board came from was called fareplay.im guessing it was released in 1977 .here are few pictures of it and the deck .im told the decks were known as sling shot types .if any more pictures are required I will be quite happy to supply them

  18. As you say, we used Pledge or Mr Sheen, back in the day. I did attempt to clean the bands on my Fruit Drop (Fruit Stepper), but it just made them worse. I still intend to print some more, when I eventually get around to it. I've acquired a roll of photo paper, so that I can print them in a strip, and brought my old Epson printer out of retirement, as apparently it allows you to specify custom paper sizes. Edit: I've done some test prints with A4 paper in the laser printer, to check size and spacing, etc.
