  3. Well guys, im actually wondering how the hell I have survived without one of these for all these years. I have removed an amp and a sound chip from an old scorp 1 with no issues at all. I reflowed the solder first but jesus that was easy. Worth it's weight in gold for me. I personally have nothing bad to say about it. Thanks for the advice @Digbyand @midibob, really helped me out. Now to try and sort some of these scorp 1's out.

  5. I run mine at approx 320 C. I did run it about 300 originally but the extra 20 made the difference for crumbly solder. Just remember not too much pressure or length of time otherwise you'll have pads lifting all over the place. I can usually get a 40 pin chip out cleanly in under 60 secs.

  6. The feature, unsurprisingly, is based on TV's 'Take Your Pick'. There are three extra reels in the top glass, the middle one open, the end two shuttered. When you get three Keys on the win line, you can 'take the money' (middle reel, 8-16-20p); or 'open the box' (select either of the side reels, 10-20-50p). Both shutters open, so you can see 'what you would have won', as well as your actual win. None of it worked, of course. The extra reels, plus seven control cams, all turn together, which makes it slightly easier to fathom out. Cam 1 (motor end) has eight notches, and stops the motor in any one of the eight payout positions, according to the variator. Cams 2 and 3 control the payout for the left reel, cams 4 and 5 for the middle reel, and 6 and 7 the right-hand one. Freeing-off the shutters, wiping the grease off the cams, and cleaning the micro switches soon had the end reels paying, but the middle one was unresponsive. By elimination, it turned out that the selector wire (white/yellow) was open-circuit, and a snapped pin in the 12-way plug was soon located and repaired. It's a good game, just like Lucky Two's, but with a bit of extra interest. I hope I can live with the flaky cabinet!
