  3. I'll take the blame if it helps the mecca!! I agree with Matty, board repairers do it to help others rather than make money. I've repaired many pcbs over the years (not fruity ones) for the satisfaction of bringing something back to life. I've every respect for those who take on fruity board repairs for others and remain indebted to the members who have given me invaluable help. Good luck.

  4. Moonraker. One of the many Nobles electro conversion using a Bell Fruit base machine. this one circa 1979. Although the reverse nudge was a great addition to the games, the design of the electro reels was not exactly suitable. First the wipers were set and angled to run in a forward direction so forcing them in reverse would cause the end of the wiper blade to catch on the studs resulting on the wiper bouncing over the stud or the worst scenario was the blade bending back over itself. Add to the problem of reel slip on the reverse nudge, If you look at the reel stop cut outs on the reel drum you can see they are designed again for the forward motion of the reel so that when the solenoid arm drops, it can slide into the cut out where it hits the straight cut end to stop the reel. When the reel runs in reverse you can see the reel stop arm can run up the slanted side result in what appears to the player as reel slipping.

  6. It's electro, I have a schematic for one of Nobles machines fitted with nudge up and shows a second motor activated by a relay so, to get the nudge up they have to fit reels with a double motor similar to this one used by ADMC on their nudge up machine conversions.

  7. There's a few other things too... There's no glory repairing boards for people... if you do a good job they just want the next and the one after that. Also you should never slag off a board repairer because most other repairers that might have helped you will just tick you off their list. Not worth the agro

  10. Doesn’t matter what you post now, you already told him not to send the boards back in 2019. It’s not his fault, let it go. If he does suffer with his back and his missus has indeed had a breakdown then shame on you, do you think he needs you hassling him? J

  13. "It's not that bad" is a phrase virtually everyone tries to tell a board repairer. But you need to have experience and know how much time you have to make that call. It's not that people can't fix them it's can you be arsed to spend your evenings doing it for a month for someone else and maybe get £beers if your lucky or a shit storm if you get fed up. Andrew has done some amazing totalled m1 boards but (I can't speak for him but I get the impression) that's to showcase his skills and for his own challenges... can he be arsed to do it for other people in his own time?? Think of the hourly rate for an electrical engineer multiply it by 20-30-40 hours... on a bad board... he might do it for you but would you pay that bill?
