  1. We can blame VFS for their part in the loss of many machines to conversion

  3. Thought I'd share this with you all. A friend of mine has created a Snappy Viper game on his zx spectrum. Its quite amusing and clever how he did this Hope you can get to watch this and leave a comment for him. Cheers.

  4. I've not done any repairs on one of these for many years. The fault was reset when paying out. After taking a quick look at the board I spotted this on the regulator board. After a couple of messages with Midibob and taking his advice on board I swapped those ones out and replaced them with these 3 new ones. Its all back in and tested and now my Autoroute pays out as it should again...😎

  5. I think it's the rarity of it. Maybe they were mostly converted to something else? I haven't seen one for 40 yrs

  6. I don't think its a fair price no (£300 that is) - I recon £150 maybe yes, however - as always its what people are prepared to pay thats drives up prices - plus as these are now rare, and collectors hold onto spares the prices are inevitable inflated. Repair is the better option if you can live without the machine for the time it takes to wait, and get the repair. It is always good to have a spare for this reason, but its costly. I have MPU4 machines typically and do hold spare boards - they are rare but not fetching silly money YET (I paid from £30 to £60 for mine but took the risk on untested stuff that came on ebay and fell lucky).

  9. We’ll as an update I have been busy busy and tried a few things like reseated the IC’s 7 & 8 and thoroughly cleaned everything from the cabling looms/connectors to the boards, re-assembled and methodically reconnected things, all new bulbs and hey presto the thing is only reliably working! I had removed the reel deck and cleansed all that too and the reel backboard, in doing so I lost one of the lamps on reel B opto - I shoved that to the end and everything is working just as it should. I’ve ordered some spare opto’s as I suspect they are a point of weakness. I have a new £1 coin S10 mech so can use some current ‘real money’, but I decided to leave the 10/20 and 50p’s as old money and have old coins I can use. Payouts tubes for new £1 work fine. Very happy at this stage, thanks for input folks, I have no doubt I may need help again as these are no spring chickens! Thank goodness for this forum with these old machines. I want more now lol ….

  11. Hi Everyone Following on from Snappy Viper My friend Bernard Mitchell has created another game for his ZX Spectrum which is,Super Line Up mpu3. In a similar fashion to Snappy,it has some robotic style sounds which mimmick some of my catchphrases lol. Here is his latest video. And hope you can get to watch it. He would love to hear any feedback if you leave comments for him. I must admit,I like this a lot. His next project is Chances Unlimited. Thanks Massive to Bernard who visited me a few weeks ago and is a genuinely nice chap who is into this stuff. This video and Snappy can be seen on his YouTube channel
