Hi, yes my workshop area is joined to my house and the Mrs can hear it in doors. You will probably will be able to do that, sometimes you might want both the iron and the extractor hot. A cheaper temperature controlled soldering iron is good enough to start off with. I'm still using my cheap one I got back in 2017... I will be trying a pace one soon though.

Ideally you need to check the output of the PSU with a meter, however looks like you have found a seller on Facebook yes? There are fuses between the PSU and board (check those), the board will also have 4 green LED’s - did you notice if all those LED’s were lit? See pic where one is out (for example) It could well be the PSU but it’s worth being sure before spending, but then I guess a spare is no bad thing.

I have a similar pace mbt station, I tried to do it on the cheap so I ordered a shady hand piece from the US... I actually had to repair the tiny board under the switch was sold as working so they refunded me and didn't want it back 👀😁 I had to also get hold of a new black plastic heat shield also from the US which was a total ball ache. It's really good though it is quite loud, you get to hear when the vacuum struggles. I've been using welding tip nossle cleaners from amazon if the tip starts getting blocked. I also have some heated tweasers those are pretty handy if the joints are rotten or you're cutting and pulling the pins out. Is there a second channel on your station? You might be able to fit a pace iron too. Impressed with that battery... gotta love the blue ones 😅
