  1. Hi all I have just found this site. I'm an old A.C.E. and J.P.M. worker. Reading a few things on here brought back many memories

  2. Hi. I've just discovered this site. Interesting reading and brought back many memories. I knew and worked with Howard Parker and John Monks before they set up J.P.M. We all worked for a man named Mike Firmage company name Image in Canton Cardiff. I most likely never met you but I worked for J.P.M. in Ferry Road not long after they opened up. I didn't stay there long as I went to work for Gainsmede as a juke box and fruit machine engineer. Like yourself I started on the production Not at J.P.M. but at A.C.E. in Charles street in the city centre. When we moved to Ferry Road I moved to testing then fault finding eventually to design.

  4. No need, drop them direct in the hopper - dump (which basically allows the machine to count them) and then straight back in.

  5. If you are going to do that just put the coins in the hoper you plan to use, dump it then put them back in and the machine knows the real level. Much better and will divert coins better too.

  6. No it does not, you can start from empty but if you win the machine will likely alarm and say "refill required" or similar - if it does simply turn the refill key and load in the coins needed to pay out. Hope that makes sense. To expand, when you dump the hopper it remembers what came out and sets that as the level - regardless of what is actually inside this is what the machine thinks it is.

  7. just perform a dump of the hoppers, someone likely pressed the hoppers topped up button. Has the reel error gone now?

  8. Welcome aboard! - have you eliminated all the obvious things like checked all the connectors are good, clean and firm in position (they sometimes move/work loose in transit for instance). If they seem ok I would swap reel 1 & 2 over (their connections not the actual reel locations) and see if the fault moves to reel 2 error then report back 👍

  9. To be fair this was a real tidy machine already (cabinet and glass) it was just the frames had flaking paint (and a lot of years of muck as usual) so hopefully will be like new in a week or so. A rare find in this condition so 100% worthy of a good recondition IMO. The reel glass artwork wasn't great either but I managed to get one in lovely condition thanks to this forum and also reel-band 4 was badly marked but again sorted (thanks @Tilly1) It's funny, in the wild I hated the auto play machines, but in home word you cant beat hitting them and watching / listening to the action - sheer bliss!! I post some completed pictures in due course
