  3. This gamble works on my two unblocked lucky strikes, get a small win up to £5.40 by cherries or whatever then half gamble £5.40 on x3 for £8.10 then £8.10 on x12 for £97.20 add the £2.70 in the tray from the half gamble and it’s £99.90 thats it’s max gamble,I can’t find a different route, £25 wins just auto collect so can’t x4 them.

Any way it’s not finished yet I’m still testing and got a couple of bits to sort but I thought I would do a quick 50 credit testing video and this is what happened I never caught it in this mood in the wild 😁

  5. Don't release many on here maybe i should but the roms came from here so its only right #Next up is a 90's machine from the spotlight/searchlight range £6 token or goto edit mode and tick the checkbox in yellow for £3 All Cash whether this has the original neon lights roms or spotlight's roms we'll never know, but its a step up from spotlights smaller jackpot level thanks goto @Stylez for getting the roms from a person called james, from his actual machine uploaded via the mecca @kirsty a newbie creator in the making for her classic layout, which gave me the idea to redo the "spot" from my spotlight art to "Neon" shortcuts are as standard, the 20p input is 20p cash as the token input doesn't register on the "in" meters for some reason not sure if the roms goto 10p play as never tried, might do that now anyways all lamps now blended where needed instead of split like on spotlight Enjoy and Happy Gaming!!! Neon Light maygay £6 5p Wdx.zip

  6. Hi everybody. On the radio the other day somebody said "nostalgia is our comfort blanket". Could not agree more. Down the pub in the late 80s where a pint was less than £1. We'd spend more on the "fruities" than on beer. I'd love to be able to experience those games again. Which brought me here....

  8. Afternoon All, Just a quick introduction, was bored a few days ago and stumbled upon something called MFME whilst looking at old school bandits I used to play in the arcade as a kid, intrigued I looked into it some more and found this site and another site called "desertislandfruits" which looks like a sister site? Anyhow, I spent the next few hours just scrolling through the images of all the bandits and saying "ohhh" and "ahh" or "Hey I used to play that!", then I had a look around to try and find out how i could go about reliving these childhood memories. I managed to find a very old MFME (v9) and downloaded it but most of the roms I have come across require v19 or newer and from what I can tell this version is locked behind sites like this, so of course I made myself an account to introduce myself, say hello, ask if anyone loved 'Big Ghoulies' bandit like I did and find out how I can go about getting my hands on the relevant MFME V19 (or later). It's also nice to see that so many people are are geeky-oldschool as me, a few years ago I went to a retro-arcade in Manchester (i forget the name) and spent several hours playing old 80's arcade games, I would buy myself an actual unit but the wife would kill me over the space it would take up Any questions etc feel free to message me and look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Al

  11. Just a quickie on the Casino Royal. The multi coin mech was a nightmare when they were first introduced. The adjustment on these took a long time to get right, you would get 2/6 (half crown) right then adjust for the 2/- (two shillings/10p piece), adjust 6d then find 6d dropping into 2/- re-adjust 2/- then 2/- would drop into 2/6d, it was murder. The hopper was the same, some of the coins would flow through fine but others would be thrown into the machine or one coin might jam the micro switch. As these machines were all mains it would only take one odd coin to blow one of the fuses. Obviously both coin mech and hopper were put right eventually.

  15. Next was the back door , the donor machine back door was not original I think it was from a jpm machine as it was a grey colour , luckily I had saved the back door from the original machine as it was not too bad and I thought I could use it at some point to make a bottom door up for another machine in the future , the only problem was the bump strips on the back were broken and the screws had rusted into the chip board so when I pulled them off they left big holes in the back of the door so I had to use some wider bump rails to cover the holes which I made up from door stop and stained black , I’m happy with the result 😁 that’s enough for tonight I will do some more reports tomorrow thanks for reading 👍

  16. Another problem I had was the reel deck was sitting a bit too far away from the glass so I had to raise it up about 8mm with the use of some washers and rubber grommets like little shock absorbers yes it is a bit of a bodge I admit but it dose work very well and looks ok to me 😁and another probrlem I had to sort out was the speaker hole again because it was a club cab it was in the wrong location so I had to drill a new hole and use the cut out to repair the old hole and fill it , it doesn't look very good in my first photo but after mixing a bit of filler with some dark oak stain it has blended in quite well I think , I had tried with a metal plate sprayed black to mask the old hole and accommodate but that looked worse in my opinion

  18. Ok so a little bit more progress today ,I’ve cheated 😉as it made more sense to get a base professionally made in a little workshop locally for £30 than me knocking one up myself and I’m really glad I did as the finish is fantastic my attempt would have taken at least half a day and would never have looked anywhere near as good here’s a few pictures ,I’ve just got to paint it a quick coat tonight and another tomorrow 😁

  19. Ok so a little bit of progress I’ve re fitted the loom and started to fit the tubes and payout slides, I’ve had to drill and cut out a couple of holes as this was a club cab so the tube layout was different to the original arcade cab and had to adjust the mpu4 plinth due to the change of cab here’s a couple of pictures

  21. So spraying all done now had a go on a couple of extra bits and really pleased with the results and I’ve just tested the meters and they all work fine , result 👍I also sprayed the reel deck base as i got the powder coaters to sand blast it but told them to leave it bare as I thought it might look ok but the more I looked at it I could see the rust trying to start again so a quick coat of rust remover and then anti rust primer then black satin and it looks much better , I also sprayed the token sorter and token catcher and they have come up like new as the plastic was looking tired ,time will tell if it was the right decision 😁hopefully after I have sorted the base and made the plinth for the meters it will be time to start putting this baby back together again cheers for reading 🍻

  22. Another quick up date I managed to finish a job a day early on Friday so I got to go home for a day which meant I got to play on the cab for a few hours in the afternoon , which was a bonus 😁 after a bit of head scratching and double checking measurements I finally marked it all out and started to butcher the cab here’s a few pictures of the progress I’m really pleased with the result so far it’s all glued back up together and has set in place nicely now , I'm going to make a new base for it as the mdf base was a bit bashed at the sides and then going to give it a good clean and polish up next weekend , I’m in two minds on if I change the t moulding as the original is not too bad but it might be worth doing it as it will give it that final new finish 👍 next job is to sort out the meters as on the club cab there down to the left hand side and on the arcade cab there in the center on a plinth so I’ve got to make a plinth with my off cut from the bottom of the cab where I cut the new door in and clean all the rust of of the meter brackets and give them a good clean up while I’m working away , thanks for reading cheers dave 🍻

  23. From this IMG_6076.MOV to thisi m really pleased with the finish on this lot it’s taken a while but they look brilliant 😁 all done for £90 well £100 really as I gave them a £10 tip for cakes at tea time for a great job 😋which is a bargain when you think of the time it would take to sand it down and the cost of spray paints and the finish compared to if I was to try and spray it myself , I’ve had a go before and it was a bit of a disaster with spray paint dust everywhere and streaks and runs ☹️ Somethings are best left to the professionals the colour I chose is slightly darker to the original but close enough for me

  24. Just a quick up date I had a phone call from the powder coating firm today saying the frames and bits are going to be done today so hopefully I will pick up the bits later on this week ,donor cab has been sorted out now 😁thank you tony 👍 so with a bit of luck I can make a start on putting it all back together over the next few weeks ,watch this space cheers 🍻

  25. Quick up date I’ve had a couple of hours on Saturday night /Sunday morning before I was off to work so I removed the buttons and gave them a good clean up and removed the glasses out of the frames and removed the vents from the rear door so every thing is ready to take to the powder coaters to get a price to clean up and powder coat

  26. So good to see these restoration s happen like this .these bob versions of the classic s aren't everyone s cuppa but they still need saving and its about what we remember playing .the cab and parts have obviously seen better days but everything or nearly everything is restorable .with most of the metal work covered in rust i would get the lot powder coated .they will lightly shot blast each part and the power coat is a good robust way of doing the parts .my local place in brum does the frames for about £15 each the deck about the same and all the smaller parts probably a few quid to a fiver each. All.in all maybe £100 to do.the lot maybe slightly less . If you don't want to spend that then get some wire cups that attach to angle grinders and also wire wheels that afix to power drills and take the rust off manually. It'll take some time .use hammerite smooth silver for most of the parts and find a medium grey gloss for the frames .I think players thread has covered various colour options for the frames. Black smooth hammeritre is good too or car spray paint .use a good grey spray primer too .by the time you've bought all.the sprays and paints and wire cups and wheels you are looking at £50 so for another 50 or so quid you can get the powder coaters to do all.the hard work .

  27. Ok so it’s the last post of the strip down , so every thing is stripped out now and next it’s time to start cleaning up and or replacing / repairing bits , even though I possibly have a good donor cab coming which hopefully will have some good bits in it I would like to save as much of this machine as possible so if all goes well I can use bits to restore my other mpu4 machines in the future so any tips on cleaning rust off like on the reel deck bracket and the air vents on the rear door would be great ,I have sanded down and black painted the vents in the past but would like the bare metal effect if possible like the original would have had and also I might also get a quote from a local company for re powder coating the frames and the top buttons / token mech panel and the pay out tray, just out of interest how much dose the powder coating roughly cost as I have seen a few members have had stuff like this done in the past ,here’s the last lot of photos for now thanks for reading

  29. Ok so it was time to start removing bits I started with the coin mech and token mech bracket and then carefully removing the loom I have been given some good tips and pointers by a good Freind on how to do it thank you Tony 👍,so it’s easy to put back together again by numbering up each lamp and making a note of where they go in the mask by doing a drawing of the mask and labelling it up I found it easier just to number both the lamp and the lamp mask with a sharpie pen and then take a photo just in case the number rubbed of the mask when clean it , so first challenge was to open the reel glass the clips that hold it shut were rusted also the hinge had rusted together as well, eventually I freed the two clips at the top and slowly I prized the frame of the glass open Pulling the rusty screws and hinge out of the chip board I was now concerned about the lamp mask and lamp holders being brittle and snapping as I removed the lamps ,but I was very happy to find they were all absolutely fine and I also gently eased the lamp mask away from the glass until the double sided foam separated from the glass so I could cleanse mask as well as the inside of the glass , once this was done I continued with labelling and removing tubes and meters and solenoids door switches again a lot of the screws were so rusted into the chip board they snapped straight away when I attempted to unscrew them I also removed the stickers that were on the machine it looks like this machine was originally a hit the top from the sticker inside which I have saved and will put them back into the new cab when the time comes

  30. Good luck on the restoration, it's the best bit of owning an old machine is restoring it to its form of glory! Great thread, and look forward to the updates on how you're getting on 🙂 Good luck matey 👍
