I guess JPM's fruit snappa/fruit chaser and frog it /frog hop would be early 80s - both started as £2 jackpots then changed to £3 along with a change of name, can't remember which way round though2 points

Hi everybody from Switzerland ! Around 40 years ago, I bought a Bell-Fruit manufacturing "Eachway Trebble Deluxe". After years and years stored unused, I'm wanting to restore this machine today. And as you imagine, I don't have any documentation or knowledge in this (except that I have a formation in electronic/electricity....) I finally found this forum, that seems to be the only place where to gather some help about old fruit machines. Initial problem was that nothing was working..... After unjamming an electro-magnet that lock the reel, and repluging a cable that was disconnected, it works. Now, I can feed money, and counter increases. And if I press the handle, the reels starts spinning, and then stop one after earch other. But the "hold" buttons never blink. All features set seems to be disabled! Do you have any clues about what I should check? Do you know what is the big bloc on the door (see picture), with a graduated wheel (0 to 360) ? The main timer seems to work (the red wheel in the first picture, in middle of all) But if this big bloc on the door should be a timer too, I didn't hear any noise from it..... Thanks for you help !1 point

I tried to invert the red/orange wire, but no luck…. When looking in details with a flashlight i noticed too that for the control unit, connectors unconnected have a little oxydation. And connected one have no oxidation. So, it allows me to presume that the whole wiring for the control unit is good…1 point

Feature boards can mean so many different types of game tbh. If you take the early 80s for example it could be a progressive game that awards and rewards the further you climb the board. The feature is only something when you land on a winning possibility. In the late 80s I had a few games myself like mpu4s Andy's Great Escape and Viva Las Vegas Six where you had to earn a feature by getting 3 symbols alike that puts you onto a board. And spinning the 4th reel that advanced you to win or lose on that board. I have had plenty of these type games which spilled into the 90s. Had a lot of the Impacts, and some of the BFM scorp2 games and Maygay machines like Gladiators,Eastenders and Rovers Return. Even newer games that offer top box features like Bullion Bars and the like. Although I ain't into those. I prefer the early 80s myself. Exchanging wins for nudges is the best feature for me lol Today's machines need skilled players that know what each feature entails. Great topic although there are thousands of answers lol1 point

Ok, my problem is this. my machine is only identical to the point we are at now. On second picture of the timer with the three wires with orange and red hoops, the 5th wire along (orange with red hoop) from the left is on the centre connector. try it on the top connector as are the other two to see if it does change anything? The two machines (including mine) both manufactured before EWT are the same spec. the two machines manufactured after EWT are virtually same in spec. Each Way Treble Deluxe however has differences including timers so are the timer switches and wiring/colours. As the schematic for this machine is one I'm short of in my library, I really could do with finding a schematic of the machine to trace and correct the faults. If no progress, can you go over all the timers for ANY loose or broken spade connectors and replace which will eliminate one of them being the cause.1 point

No problem, it works at least for most times ! Thanks again for all your help, I started with a fully not working one, and now it is working at 90%!1 point

This part may take a while longer to go through as there are differences between the win system on mine compared to your machine1 point

I have spotted another interesting point in your hold timer, It's one of the early hold timers and has the motor and gearbox in one unit so the gears will be all brass and probably why the motor has been taken out. The late timers with the nylon gears fitted, plus you can separate the motor from the gearbox by a metal clip across the motor allowing you to release it from the gearbox. They look the later, newer type on your machines other timers. the motor and gearbox info is on the label attached to the motor1 point

looking at the picture of your gamble feature timer, I don't have a schematic for your machine but I do own it's predecessor, Each Way Treble. Although there are many differences the gamble timer wiring is the same. On your timer, switch 43 the blue wire will brown hoops is on the wrong connector at the top of the switch, it need to be on the middle connector of the same switch. the rest match identical to mine.1 point

If the credit counter bulb is working then the 6.3vac is present, if the hold bulbs are not blown it could be the machine is not giving any holds at all and could be the hold timer explained below..... Some motors are geared to run slow so they can be hard to turn and they are set to turn only in one direction. Just a word of warning... Turning the cams by hand, especially the larger timers can result in the cams ( red and grey coloured wheels) being moved out of position, As they are set to operate in degrees of the full turn of the timer, any out of position can and will stop the machine from running. if the machine has been stood for many years then really it will need a good service of all the parts to get it running to specifications. Both those timer motors shown in picture should turn continuously as soon as the machine is in credit and stop after the last credit is used and the game stops. The one on the left is designed to stop the reels running in a sequence and to make them stop in a more random spin, the one on the right is the hold selector unit and it decides as to whether the player gets hold or not. All the machines wired spade connectors are supposed to have a tight connection to the switches. Again over the years they deteriorate and become brittle or loose, this too can and will cause faults so every individual connector needs to be checked for a good fit, any bad connectors need to be replaced.1 point

Lets try to get the small 6.3volt AC bayonet bulb lamps working first. Providing the holder is still fitted ,There should be one of these small bulbs fitted to illuminate the credit counter when you switch the machine on, if that lights up the the supply from the transformer is working. The bulb may have blown as many do with the vibration from the counter solenoids so does not point direct to voltage missing but next. Check the 7amp fuse on the transformer unit in the base first. The 6.3vAC supply from the fuse should be a yellow wire and all the small bulbs should have a violet 0volts wire already attached. The hold lamps do not flash. When the machine offers a hold the centre lamp between the two middle hold lamps stay illuminated as should the hold lamps after the the hold buttons are pressed. If the supply is working they too could be blown all with age. The replacement 6.3 bayonet bulbs are identical to those used in pinball machines, see link below. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283946553430?hash=item421c889056:g:QfkAAOSwJ9liJjiJ1 point

I would say the nearest to using a feature board first was Barcrest with Adders and Ladders in 19821 point
