Tr52 (lamps enable transistor) near the battery. You can check it with a diode test on a meter... you tube transistor test with a meter if your not sure. Be prepared for a mental lamp matrix when you change it. For the alpha, its not related to the lamp driving. At the bottom of the board have a look at the alpha plug- what happens is the battery vapours from the battery travel down and the alpha and aux plug are like ledges that catch it. Most machines have had a few boards by 2022 but the plugs can keep rotting unnoticed so even if the board looks OK still check the plug contacts. I've seen them in horrible condition

Mate just flick the fucking bastard (ctrl+r) whilst clocking up in the bank (not Superbank) and keep doing it for 50-60 quid on all wins (forget about 20p wins as not worth it), you want repeats you'll get them.

Hello everyone! Tore myself away from all the shiny stuff on DIF to hop over here to check out all the juicy hardware stuff, and you all don't disappoint! I've only started perusing the posts, but I've already come across some really juicy machine teardowns.. all those photos, ooh the hardware geek in me is loving it! Keep up the great work sharing all those hardware photos and writeups!

It's all good, no problem sharing your experiences with others. I have now learned that this family of sites "over here" is where the "reel" action is. Yeah I know, it's Monday and that's the best pun I could come up with.

You can put it in lamp test and that will illuminate all of them. You then need to find the wire that's common to all the lamps stuck on. With the machine unplugged...Get a component pin and put it in a bulb holder or back of it- so you are touching that wire with the row of lamps stuck on, then attach a crocodile clip probe to the component pin and to your meter. Next using continuity test, brush test all the metal tabs on the big Darlington transistors on the top of board. Change the one that beeps and the smaller driving transistor that's joined to it. You will have to route out to find which one it's not always the nearest one. How it works- the 5v logic part of the board uses the smaller transistors to switch on the big lamp power transistors. You could have a Darlington transistor failed because its gone bright but it could also be because of the drive transistor. Best to just change them both and have a nose around for shorts. Give that board a nice clean too mate.

A unique machine. in regards that there is an extra feature on the trail (Nudge Pot). Compared to the 1-12 trail of most of the bell fruits of the era. Besides that, it's pretty much standard fare. Statto
