  1. They are still going. Pluto 6 is a bit of a nightmare to be honest. All boards are encrypted to the manufacture and only heber can re program them so if you have a Pluto 6 from an Astra Games machines, it will not work in any other manufacturer. Herber will only re program if you are the OEM. I guess you could remove the SMD EPROMS but not sure how many you would or if it would work. lots of board repair places hate pluto6 and I have loads all BER. There are also 2 types of Pluto 6 with different levels of encryption. These are identified by the colour of the DIL switches. Red are old older less powerful board and blue are the newer ones. I would shy away from that tech. When they work they are fantastic but if you get issues you will just have a big door stop on your hands. I would love it if someone on here can repair them or know of away to unlock the manufacturer but these are my own thoughts and experiences with this tech.

  3. Hi. The software in on the CF card and needs to remain in, it’s not loaded onto the board. the socket FPGA is manufacturer specific, this is so the manufacturer can stop you from fitting another game in the same cabinet or go from cat D to cat C games. yea, the firmware is flashed onto the board, be good to hear how you get on with lifting and extracting. to RAM clear you just turn on with the test button pressed. There is an issue on the Pcb, the resistors that drive the 7segment display are too low and they burn out. You will always see it black and chard and de solders themselves. good luck, be interesting to hear how you get on
