  1. For the occassional repair I've used long nosed pliers 'end on', which can push the wire both sides of the IDC 'blade'. Not as good as a proper tool but has got me out of trouble on a few occassions. Good luck.

  3. ACE Double Chance arrived today. Horse racing theme, and a now-forgotten gameplay, thanks to the Gaming Act allowing random nudge. Insertion of an ACE token starts the reels, which all stop TOGETHER. HOLD is then available, and pressing the front start bar starts the reels again, which then stop normally, left to right. WINS are added up onto a three-digit counter, and are then promptly paid back out by a hopper, each coin paid deducts one from the counter. There are no options on the payout. You can't store credits, or add up multiple wins; the counter is only used to control the hopper. It isn't even visible to the player. All started to come to life nicely, after the usual cleaning and oiling. Once again, the payout controller is reluctant to start from rest. A little help in the right direction sets it away, and proves that everything else in the sequence works. These payout controllers are becoming a pain in the neck.

  5. Ah ha found it. The transformer diagram is in the System 1000 manual and the diode is a TVS so it's a good job I didn't replace it with a standard diode (not that I was going to anyway). It's actually a 1.5KE24A which is also an SKE24A which is also a 1N6280A which matches up with the readable numbers on the device. Just got to source one now. The original appears to test OK but experience with TVS diodes on MPS2's shows that when corrosion gets in to the device they tend to go short circuit.
