  1. Here's a few of the board (Proconn plus). This is the reason why there's not to many around. It's a 30 year old board. The battery ground hole is actually notched into the 53v at the end of the red line. My take is the engineer definitely intended to put it there for end of life purposes. I've seen no evidence of shorting on the board but most bulbs in the cab are black. I get the impression it probably lit up like a light house at some point. 2nd pic the board is about 50% cleaned up. I took lots more off and got rid of the power rail remnants. I couldn't get the pic vertical so the top is that way ⬅️ I'm way further on now but still have a while left. I'm nearing the farnell order stage though. More to follow. Thanks for all the people who have helped so far 😎

  2. I'll also add this... although the main breaks in the copper were obvious... this is what you get on old boards that have been rotting a long time... its where the component legs rot and it starts to etch in under the solder mask. This is about 100mm underneath the battery at the bottom of one of the 40pin PIO chips. Although these traces buzz out with continuity I'm reinforcing everything with a repair wire. I don't want anything to ever fail in the future. I'm hoping to get it as strong as it left the factory. No weak spots like these hairline cracks. These are the biggest enemy and will let go at some point

  4. Hi folks, yeah I've had a few people asking me how it's going 😀 I've got the cab mostly done, I finished a few other things I was working on and now I'm working on the board with my full attention. Here's a stage pic with the metal work fitted... better pics to follow when it's done 😎

  9. I think impact 3 are decent boards, I've never had a problem with them. A few years ago people were converting impact 1 machines to impact 3 boards... before the remake processor cards came about. What they are though, are boards where any battery leakage is catastrophic just like Epoch. Unfortunately most fruit machine people ignore minor battery leakage and just say 'it's shit' when it doesn't work. Here's a pic of an impact 3 with only one trace broken which killed it. Can you see it? Absolutely nothing wrong with the Tech at all. It's just battery damage
