  1. Amazing stuff Matty. Don't worry too much if it doesn’t boot... you'll know to look at the data & address lines with no ROM in to see if they all pulsing, check RAM has 5.04V, Not-reset is high and look for pulsing on RAM pin 18 (the 2 transistors up cct can cause a no boot as can many things). Z80 isn't too different from other tec at a high level it's just a CPU with clock, rom and ram with a few inputs and outputs... Sorry I don't want to spoil all them nights of fun... then again, it's not so much fun when you don't have a good runner to compare to. The boot is the solid beep of about 2 seconds (first time you'll get the ram clear tone), then reels slowly turn to find position, then spin fast to position then lamps light with a tiny ping & into attract...

  2. I can't imagine ever having the dexterity or skills to do this sort of stuff, but I really appreciate seeing pictures of the work done, from the people who can! It's people like yourself that will keep these machines alive for future generations!

  3. Thanks, Is Andrew96's method, I thought the same when came on here and I saw him doing it. I thought 'wow' and I've still never seen better repairs than his on all sorts of electronics and arcade related sites. It's a great way of repairing battery damage. If you work with tools then you can do it... the skill is just how closely you look (even with glasses) . Anyway, I can't talk this board up too much yet until its actually running 😅 I will curse it. Cheers though appreciate it.

  4. Well back to this one now - being as I already have Lucky Strike £100 version I decided to re-glass this one as £100 Sweep Stake. I managed to get a sweepstake donor some months back and finally just got round to giving this a go. The reels are identical on this machine to Lucky Strike, some messing with the lighting setup and BOOM! Had a bit of a game with the fact Sweepstake was a later version £1 payout whereas LS was 20p payout but finally got that sorted today too. I also managed to find the button panel on ebay (see pic) for £9 so managed to. basically create a full machine in the LS50 cab. Looks good and its actually a cracker to play!! glad I did it now. Just Super Series and Royal Exchange to go for the full set lol Time to enjoy playing it now.....
