After looking more I'm guessing Er01 is reel one and it's an opto fault. It appears it's not actually completing the reel checks after all Reel one is the priority Error so it's displaying that first. A look at the reel boards and they are all slightly burned up. Guess something has whacked them in the past potentially the same time as the LED segments getting taken out. Think I have some scorp1 reels the same so will have a look at those. This is the difficult part of bringing a dead board and long dead machine back to life at the same time

Hi People... So my board is looking good! Pops out of reset (over the moon 😎) Ram clears Audio great Passes reel checks Errors at attract mode. Doesn't hang up and resets on door switches toggle. Are there any error codes for this type of project machine? Will probably be Er** 2 digit format? Initially the 7 Seg LED display was displaying garbage... after much head scratching and looking at my board and wiring... I've changed the segments on the little display board and I now have a readable display! Just can't find the error codes anywhere... only for later machines presumably with an alpha. Stuck (temporarily 😁) Thanks for any help!

The volume control is the yellow pot (top left) I think. The audio is amplified by the TBA 800 chip, this may have popped? I can't remember what the power transistor does on this board?

So it's not spinning fast just in a slow loop ending in a lower pitch donk? Are all leds lighting when the flag is in the opto sensor? If so you can hold the last turning reel with flag in the opto sensor while the other 2 find position... Remember i said they are picky where the flag is. Or you could stick a bit of tape in the opto to see if it spins reels fast... Then you know you need to move the flag back or forward a bit. Place all 3 single boxed bars on the winline. Are the flags all in the same position on the reel?

The roms sound like they are switchable, just a case finding the switch button to change stake/prize J

Always think it's worth redoing the audio electrolytic caps. If you can't even hear a pop from the speaker and nothings getting through I'd start there. I replace them on all old boards like scorp1, m1 etc It's an impact 3 audio cap in the pic but shows what they go like. Should be 470uf. Only the faintest of sound was getting through it

Swapped it for two crappy betcom machines ( like deal or no deal 😩) they were going to be scraped so cost me nothing 😊Just need help sorting out the sound issue but yes I'm a collector I never sell them got 18 now once I've sorted out my room a video of all them working will follow 😊
