  1. The Timekeeper RAM that has been fitted has it's own non-rechargeable internal battery which won't like being charged up! Like you say, stick with a plain old 6264 and the jumper set to 8k and you can't go far wrong.

  2. Can you measure the +vbat line at the RAM (6264 pin 28) with the machine turned off and see volts there? Sometimes the trace that battery through hole joins to can become damaged. Is your schematic for the m1b? The 100uf cap gets added onto m1a boards on fly wires. It's not essential though. That won't be the fault but does provide a buffer in the RAM supply to smooth the power on switch on switch off.

  4. This the m1a 100uf electrolytic cap add on. It's not essential but optional more if you like to do things properly. ( factory fitted)

  5. Yeah I'm not familiar with that type of RAM. It obviously works but it could be the properties of it the M1 doesn't like. It might even be batteryless RAM because of the resistor removed. Clear nvram is a slightly strange error but I thought that might because your machine looks European. Because its on a socket I would just get some better RAM and change it. Its getting the correct voltage when switched off You can use 6264 lp 10 (eg hyundai 6264a lp-10). Stick with the -10 on m1.
