  3. Just collected my first purchase of the Electro year, an all-there and running example of Double ACE. It's around 1968, at a guess, and although the coin entry plates have been decimalised, the payout glass is untouched. It's on 1/- (5p) for FOUR plays, and 2/- (10p) for 2x1/- change, which puts it in the old 3d. play category. Top win is for the melons, a remarkable ยฃ2 10 0. It pays the smaller wins in shillings, but from 10/- upwards in two-bob bits, five at a time. I'll try and get a picture or two. It's not one I've ever seen before, or even heard of, but I think it's a genuine ACE game, not a conversion.

  7. It's totally true, the hacks have been achieved by looking at multiple games hex files and spotting difference, changing it byte byte and then running them, the first brake through was made by being able to turn off the chk sum, thats basically to checks that the file hasn't been changed as mentioned above. It's done via trial and error in the emulator firstly to check the roms still boot and secondly to see what effect the code alteration is. You can use software to virtually decompile software, but it won't give you the original code, but its still no use, because you can't then recompile and use it on a game because it's a computer interpretion of what the code may look like. If it was as simple as decompiling people would have got roms and been able to predict the machines behaviour, you'd literally be able to see it in the code. I

  15. Sorry but that is just not true. All roms can be decompiled but it takes time and the larger the program the more difficult and time consuming it becomes.
