  1. Collected this ACE conversion from Scarborough on Sunday. A decimal darts-themed game based on a pre-decimal ACE such as Monte Carlo or similar. The lights came on immediately, which is always a good sign. Freeing-off the game timer led to the reels running and stopping correctly; no clutch troubles here. HOLD came to life after a while, and occasional payouts were made. The reel deck contacts will be receiving attention next. There is a darts feature, with flashing scores of 2-4-6-8-10. Changing some bulbs plus a bit of freeing-off has seen this back in action. It appears to be skill, too. ALL of the reel symbols are numbers, on different coloured circles. The feature starts with the darts symbols in any position. There are NO Mills-type fruits on this machine. I'll try and work out how to post some pictures...

  5. They're called carriage bolts. I found some for a previous project but they were stainless. Not easy to find, especially with the smaller head.

  6. yes, that's the idea of it, you can use a different game cart as long as it has a completely different game, sometimes that works, sometimes only a cleardown cart will do.

  7. Hi chaps and chapesses or any other persuasion you happen to have. I've been thinking of getting one of these devices for a while now and as I fancied a bit of a play I splashed out and bought one. You have to buy them as a kit and source your own parts which is easy for me as I had most of them. Full kits do appear on Ebay from time to time with a price to match. The PCB's come from Retro lemon and you can buy them with or without the main processor although it's probably not worth the hassle unless you have SMD soldering facilities. Anyway, I've just completed the build and it worked first time (apart from all the LED's I'd put in the wrong way round). It can test an ever expanding number of RAM, CMOS, TTL chips plus PAL's GAL's and all odds and sods of USSR chips etc. Just as a sample here's a 6116 RAM chip under test. Rotate.mp4 You can buy lots of additional adaptors for all sorts of unusual devices but I just went for the basic to start with. There is an extensive manual too covering the build, parts list and an even larger user manual. Early days yet but I think this is going to come in extremely handy. The only issue I have at present is I can't 3D print a case for it as it's just a centimeter or two bigger than my printer base.

  8. Recently purchased this beast. Got a few problems with it (as expected...bought as a non runner) So far we've got no -5V on the MPU. Blown 5A fuse for the 12V dc. Few wires off...2 broken reel sensors. Been a productive weekend, still a fair bit to do with the cabinet wiring and broken top glass...

  10. If you don't mind possibly loosing the glittery effect then a really good repro Print onto perspex is fine. I've just had this done for my ace nifty nudge and its fantastic. Admittedly I had the artwork redrawn . Cost 56 quid for print and 200 for the redraw .I had a member off the mecca redraw it .not sure if the guy who does the printing will do full high res scans or not so you'd have to ask him . His name is oliver cotton of : Arcade art shop st neot truro Number :0779865550 Email :mail@arcadeartshop.com He doesn't do mirroring effect but a grey silver is pretty effective
