Seen a number of worn and damaged wipers over many years, Even when machines were in operation. A build up of dirt and contaminates act like sanding paste. To combat lack of service and missed payouts, Engineers would actually bend the wipers to force a stronger contact between wiper stud and reel board stud ending with the same result, filings on the reel shelf is a sign of damaged wiper stud wear.
