Digikey are still doing them (1 off for 22p) but no stock until December! Min order is (was) about £35 though. https://www.digikey.co.uk/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-amp-connectors/61064-1/2056002 The 12 way plugs are a bit more of a challenge but they do exist. Part number is 1-4804084 points

Yep, you're going down the same path I went. The original connectors were Combo-line and you could put the crimp connectors (male and female) in the connectors. It doesn't mention the PCB type fitted to MPU3's and I assume it then wasn't called Combo-line. I also suspect that the pins weren't a separate item and the connectors came fully populated. If only I could find a part number for them!! They weren't a Barcrest special though because I've seen these connectors in juke boxes and I think they also appeared in light aircraft way back.3 points

Thanks @midibob I have done a little searching and reached out to a couple of suppliers in the US. I have found the part numbers for the parts we need (see below) and stock of the 12 way plastic plug casing, but unfortunately the socket casing is out of stock. There is also stock of the female pins. The male pins are not available but also look different to those fitted to the MPU3 boards. The AMP pins look quite flimsy in comparison. See the data sheet below vs the pic I borrowed from a thread on power connectors. I wonder if Barcrest had these pins made specially as they don't look like the printed circuit tab pin below from AMP.3 points

I suppose all things considered, in 10 or 20 or 30 + years time it's going to need a new type of connector to keep these boards running so you're probably going in the right direction. If any of us will still be about to want to use them of course.2 points

MPU3 Power Connector The power connection to the MPU3 board is not the best, I acquired another MPU3 machine the connector was even worse and needed a wiggle to make the machine boot. I have used Deutsch connectors for some time, I found that the female DT series fits well on the MPU3 power Pin. The pin is 19mm long so could be retro fitted to the existing connector, but wouldn't be ideal. (kits are available on eBay Deutsch DT Connector Plug) I designed a 2 part plug case that the pins are fitted to and will not be able to be pushed out when inserted. I also added a small key on the side for correct orientation. By prototyping with printing models and adapting I got to a design that works. I initially had the key on the side. In addition I had two larger keys to fit in the socket on the board but removed those to be more compatible with boards without broken connectors. A bottom part with a small key with the holes aligned to the connector pins. I printed smaller holes and then drilled them with a 1.5mm pilot and then with a 3.2mm drill bit. The design is to have a cap that fits over the top and secures the pins once drilled, the cap can be glued in place. The fit to the board is pretty good so I didn't add complexity with clips. I attach a copy of my .STL files to share in case anyone wants to make some themselves. MPU3 Power Connector.zip2 points

PSU Rewire The old power connector was a little damaged and past its best. I decided to clean and re wire the power supply then to fit my 3D printed / Deutsch plug. I double checked the wiring and checked the continuity between the pins and the connections to the power supply. Fitted the power supply and it sprung in to life really cleanly without any chattering or problems. Will see how it performs.1 point

Big Daddy Enterprises (pinball spares in USA) does PCB mounted molex pins I believe. They sell connectors for pinball power supplies which may suffice1 point

They look a bit like Molex pins which are still available from Farnell...bit I'm not sure if there's a PCB mounted version1 point

I think the normal MPU3 female crimps are still available to purchase, the main problem was getting a new shell with the male pins in as I've never seen these anywhere (or a part number). As posted recently it's not too much of a job to press the pins out and replace them from another scrap socket.1 point

Came across this short film about holidaying in Blackpool in 1978.around the 3min mark there is a nice clip of a BIG BEN fruit machine .use to remember these a lot .possibly in coral island as the bingo was before the clip.1 point

I think it depends if you need TTL output levels in which case you would use HCT.1 point

Button decals The A4 Acetate sheets arrived from Amazon today, I printed the button template on to the Acetate sheets and cut out the button inserts inside of the black line. I fitted the top row of buttons with the new decals and I'm pleased with the results. I have attached a copy of the artwork in pdf and jpg format if anyone wants to print some for their machine. If you going to change that IC snip the legs right where they go into the chip with good cutters and pull the legs one by one to save the board1 point

Here we have a cabbed version of Action Note a clone of Flash Cash. thankyou to pook for his original dx, some may say the cabinet looks squashed again like 'double up' and some of the lights/decals may not be pixel perfect again due to the flyer quality. again i had help from tommy c with the masking, i tried doing it only to find out i haven,t the right painting program on my lappy lol so i need to find a correct one. i choose to make the 7segs on the bank a light orange as thats what they appear to look like on a certain you tube video and they're the Mfme segs unlike pooks correct lit up segs so couldn't get em slanted like they should be. works in all Mfme,s, Shortcuts are- Start = spacebar, Gamble = G, Collect = C, Cancel = ` , Holds = 1,2,3 , Action Cash = A, ££££'s in = 0, Tokens in/20p's = 9, Enjoy and Happy gaming Action Note 1024Wdx.zip1 point
