I use Diptrace for drawing my PCB's and it throws up an error if the tracks are too close.

Hi Bob, The thing I've learned is to get 5 made first (cost for 1 and 5 is the same) and most likely there will be errors to fix. I had the gerber backward engineered and it wasn't quite right even after I checked it. I've learned now to spend more time checking the gerber. My first cards had shorts on the data lines and and a short of the 5V to 0V. Fixed with a scalpel but not the most elegant. Heres the mistake: And the fix for the 30 I had made.

Thanks Matty, I made these a 100% recreation of the original track layout. Fully working now with the updated Gerber. Following Bobs advice, I added a couple of extra pads to allow use of smaller modern ceramic capacitors. Here’s a populated board.

You could move those top traces (power?) up so they sit high up under the JPM silkscreen then that would give you an upwards route aswell so you don't have to squeeze them between the through holes (im looking at the with fingers as the bottom). Top work though I'm all for everyone doing stuff like this

Nice one Ed. That's always the thing that worries me about getting PCB's made is if I've made a mistake firstly in the circuit and secondly in the ordering process. Glad yours was good.

Shipment from China The final SRU PBC's arrived this week, I went for the low cost option and had 30 boards made with the tinned edge connectors. I chose to try this way to try rather than not making them. So far they work really well. I didn't go hard gold as the cost per board is 5 times the cost of the tinned version and to be viable a minimum quantity of 20 is required. I soldered in the 2 x Ceramic 0.1uF capacitor, 3 x 10uF Tantalum Bead Capacitors (noting the polarity of the Tantalum bead capacitors), the 2x 10k A09-103 9 pin resistor networks and the 3 x 24 pin bases. Tested the board in the Eachway Nudger and works perfectly. The prices for the hard gold version are here: Note: So I have made these for my machines and they are fine for what I want at the price I am willing to pay. The new boards are far more reliable than the old ones I have even in the few days of using them. If anyone with an SRU machine wants some of the bare boards, let me know and I'll send them to you for the cost of the postage. If there is any interest in the gold connector version then please share your thoughts and if there is enough maybe we do a group buy? Cheers Ed

The cost to create the Gerber was £60, which I thought was reasonable given the time that it takes. Once I've built and tested one, I'm happy to share the boards with anyone who needs any spares for £5 each. Cheers Ed
