You have to select the chip type so the programmer knows the correct voltages and pin configurations to read/write and address the Eprom. There's nothing unusual about Eproms used for audio. As a rule they are usually a higher storage capacity because the sampled sound takes requires more space than the program Rom. To find out the type you have to peel back the label slightly. You can just peel the bottom (opposite end to the notch). You are looking for a 27C number... like M27C4001. You can also select the relevant manufacturer aswell (probably ST, sometimes Texas TI ). The 4 in the code means its a 4mb eprom which I think the all are on Impact. Do not put it in the wrong way and remember UV light erases them so no direct sunlight😎

This is what I get on my Dataman. Just click select on the top row and then type in M27C4001 like CanonMan said. Top selection ST Electronics is perfect.
