  1. Yeah totally agree its staggering considering - not just its age but it was in a building where there was a fire and water to put the fire out! (main damage was the plinth to be fair it saved the rest I think) oh and vandalism! amazed she survived and glad to get it back running after 30 years stood in a closed down arcade in Grimsby 🙂

  2. Thanks to John Parker for all his help we have managed to get the 7.2 version roms working in my real machine on 10p play. I’ll therefore be rebuilding it on 10p. It’s been a real pain getting these roms working, my XG Pro wouldn’t write to the small 64k roms (8k code) but I have since found out that was simply the EPROMs were the older higher voltage variant. New XG Pro T48 and problem solved as it will program up to 21 volts. In the mean time John compiled the Roms as a single 40k code on a 512 eprom and the new larger gamecard. That got me working on 10p and seeing what challenges that gave me! Tech challenges aside the change to 10p roms has also meant quite a few changes to my early design MPU4 cabinet, for example the old mechanical S10 didn’t work in the new code (token did) and the button mappings were all slightly out. It also wanted all 8 meters so had to wire the extra 2 in. Lighting was thankfully 100% the same! Im now just awaiting the powder coated frames back and have completed my work on the cabinet and conversion to 10p. I’ve got the S10 working by using the feed off the Mars mech so the machine will feel original. All the changes are easily reversible if ever I wanted to revert to 5p (very unlikely). So a good clean, S10’s serviced, plinth repair and paint, replaced a few broken bulb holders etc etc and the machine is stood ready for the frames hopefully in a weeks time 😁 I’m delighted with the cabinet condition I’d actually say one of the best I’ve seen on an old AWP! Oh and coin bezels rebuilt both in silver 👍
