Here's something a little different. A DX for Road Hog's follow-up machine, Road Hog 2- I'm Back. Set to £10/25p/92% Considered doing this machine for ages, so decided to take the plunge and get it done. Now, Road Hog, Road Hog 2, and Hot Rod are all done! The native resolution on this is quite large, so would suggest using 'Shrink To Fit', in MFME's options. Use MFME6.1 to play. Credits go out to tthe following people: Mark8864 - For the original DX. SPA - For the flier that was used. The shortcuts for this are: Cancel/Collect - ` Hold/Nudge - 1 Hold/Nudge/HI - 2 Hold/Nudge/LO - 3 Feature Exchange - E or F Start/Gamble - Space Accept Bid - A Reject Bid - R £1 Insert - 0 Have fun! Hi, just bought a barcrest full of beans and it worked when I bought it. Got it home and nothing. Checked fuse in plug and inside power supply and both ok. Power supply makes a click when you click the switch but nothing, no lights at all. Can't smell any burning. Does this mean the mpu5 power supply needs changed? Thanks.

Hi Guys This one is specially for RobT, who supported this project with Roms, pictures and valuable feedback. 1981 Barcrest Rock On DX - MPU2 You will need the latest version of MFME which is currently v19.4, due to an update Mr Wizard did on MPU2/3 emulation, that improves the performance of this machine and others running the same tech. Thanks goes to RobT for his fantastic support! Launton for his great quality reel fruit scans, and especially for sending me a nice Apple:) Thanks also goes to Hitthesix for setting this project up, Richy1976 for organizing the sound files, and finally Mr Wizard for the amazing MFME and the fantastic updates he has done:)) Here is the layout: ROCK-ON v1.zip Long Live MFME! </Frig>

Hi all, I've been lurking here for a couple of days and read up on much of what is available here on the Barcrest MPU3. Thank you so much Midibob for all the info you so freely shared! I have owned a Barcrest Royal Diamonds for years, acquired it in '97. It was missing a 7 segment display (easily built) and the battery was bad (easily replaced). No real damage to the board nor the transistors. One 74LSxxx was bad. When I couldn't figure it out I (get this) called Barcrest, got connected to their Technical Department and ended up talking to a guy who helped design this particular game! His tips quickly led to a faulty 74LS12 (if I remember correctly) and it has been playing ever since. Well, that is; it was stored in the back of the garage for the last couple of years and then, on trying it a couple of months ago, it wouldn't budge of course. I have some experience in repairing electronics, am a HAM, and have restored a couple of Solid State pinball CPU boards (most of 'm damaged by battery leakage). So, after reading up here on the MPU3 stories I tackled the RD last weekend. It was ever so simple... the battery was flat but when connected to a separate Power Supply it charged neatly and holds its voltage for at least a couple of days. Checking the Test Points with a multimeter and a service scope gave a funny reading on the RESET line: it stayed low. Well, the board should not be resetting continuously and a quick look at the schematic suggested bad transistors or a bad Tantalium cap. I do not have any of the transistors in my junk box, but a reasonably fresh 10uF Tantalium cap was. Replaced it and Presto! If life would only be so simple more often 😉 Tested the game this morning and after resetting all the readings seem to indicate everything is working. The only things left now: I have a wiring diagram for the Royal Casino which is probably very like the Royal Diamonds but I'd love one for the RD. Also, the green diamond lamps all light up just as bright as all the others but still they are poorly visible. I wonder if the glas is dirty on the inside? Hope this will do as an introduction. Now everything is running I'll probably won't be visiting daily, but I thought it only polite to let you know how the forum, the info and you people are appreciated! BartW. PS: Oh yeah, one thing that has been bugging me: what the heck is the 'Aerial' used for that is tied into the Harness??

Hi, Here's the beginning of my second MPU4 mod4 restoration for a Barcrest Ambassador Gum 1000 : this board was the worst of the 4 boards, really nasty battery leakage, lot's of broken tracks. Burn signs on both ULN2803A and resistor pack 22k. I'll come back with the fix list asap. Cheers

Hi, A friend of mine bought 3 fruit machines Ambassador Gum, 3 with working bubblegum distributor, they where made for France or Belgium where money games are forbidden... Only one did turn on, the bassador 1000. The 3000 doesn't boot and the extra AG1000 will be the next project. Here's the restoration project for the Ambassador Gum 3000, MPU4 mod4. Following www.booze.net advices, thanks a million times Paul you convince me to do it, the battery has been removed, changed, and stuck outside the box. Mine had severe blue / greenish leakage damages from battery down to dataport. Audio amp, volume VR1 and neighbours look pretty bad.
