  1. Hi Guys, I have just begun building a penny pusher / coin pusher for my son. When I say begun, I have literally built the mechanism to push the coins backwards and forwards. My plan over the next few months is to document and video my progress like a diary for a few reasons. 1) finding any plans or documents on how to build your own online seems difficult. I want to help others out. 2) I want people to advise and comment before I get to the next stage so I have as much expert advice as possible before I make the mistakes during the build process. What do they say, "Measure twice, cut once!" So I have built the mechanism using a wiper motor (seems a popular choice), a couple or server mounting rails cut down, some temporary MDF for the pushing drawer and base and a PC power supply. Suprisingly I have been fortunate with a few bits. The wiper motor seems to run at a perfect speed with 5 volts powering it from an old PC power supply. the distance between the centre of the motor and the screw that powers the drawer is about right to produce about 80 mm of travel. Does that sound about right? This is for home use and for our own entertainment but I want to make it as good as possible. Any advice on materials and next steps would be appreciated. I am going to reinforce where the screw travels with metal so it does not wear the wood away! Here is my progress so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpq9Ik5B07I
  2. Hi Guys, New to the forum after stumbling across it via a google search. Old fruitys are a passion of mine but not on the owning side. I do marvel at some of the projects on here and remember a lot of these machines fondly. Im here to look at another favourite of the arcade, the penny pusher! My son (who is 7) first got a taste for these in the arcade at the age of 4 and has been asking for one at home ever since. I decided im going to build one for his birthday in October. Im just researching how it all fits together and built my first attempt at the pushing mechanism. Im going to do what a lot of other people fail to do. Im going to document the stages. A lot of people on Youtube tend to show the finished project but provide no dimensions, workings, diagrams etc. Im hoping mine will be the first! I will add my youtube progress videos and plans as I go. Please feel free to pass on any tips and advice as i will appreciate your expert knowlege along the way! Andy
