Hi All I'm hoping for a bit of advice as to where to go with this problem. I have an Ace System one Club Supreme "borrowed" from a friend. It was working fine, then a few days ago it just stopped whilst in attract mode. The 5 LEDS on the PSU are lit, and just to be sure, i replaced the electrolytics on the PSU board as one of them was bulging slightly. When switched on, it appears to come out of reset. The relay "clicks" the the red LED on the board goes out after about 5 seconds as it should, but nothing else happens. The reels are "stiff" and the Leds on the backs of them are lit, but they do not initialise and no other lights illuminate on the machine at all. Whether it is relevant or not, the "full stop" on one of 7 seg's flashes 3 times about 10 seconds after switching on (flashes twice immediately, then again after a couple of seconds) I have reseated the connectors and the roms and of course checked the 7 fuses! I also removed the lighting fuse in case the flo tube was interfering - i had that happen once on a JPM. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? I don't have a 'scope, so i'm limited to a multimeter. Thank you for any advice.

Greetings! I have an Ace System one machine called Club Supreme The problem is that the battery only holds it's charge for a couple of days I can't find any schematics to know the values of components around the battery area to consider replacement So I have 3 questions; 1) What is the likely culprit of the discharging battery? 2) What is to stop me using a battery holder with say 2x duracell AA batteries (voltage obviously slightly low at 3v) using a diode to block the charging circuit? 3) As (2) but 3xAA rechargables so voltage is correct, but still using a diode as the charging circuit on the board would be inadequate - I could charge/replace the batteries externally on a monthly basis whilst machine is on so memory is not lost. I realise the AA batteries are much higher capacity than a rechargeable, but this is what is done in pinball machines so why not fruities? Surely the memory circuit would only draw the current that is required and not be overpowered? Please don't suggest the coin cell mod - I tried that and it was flat in a couple of days! Thanks for any input.
